A craving for the signature Hiong Dai Mai Fun brought us back to Soo Kee's Son. Opting for public transport, we journeyed from an LRT station near our home to Bukit Bintang MRT Station, with a brief interlude of window shopping at Pavilion Mall KL. The eatery welcomed us with the familiar comfort of their Fried Vermicelli. Paired with homemade sugarless hot barley water, the dish stood out with its crisp texture, smoky aroma, and a rich, savory gravy teeming with fresh prawns, lean pork, tender liver, and vibrant greens. It was a culinary delight that reaffirmed its status as our top choice. We couldn't resist taking home a serving of the spring onion and ginger fried beef hor fun, anticipating the pleasure of relishing it during our staycation in PJ.
Visit Date: Sun, 28 Aug 2022 Our post-Lalaport BBC exploration led us to Medan Imbi, seeking the renowned beef noodles of Soo Kee Mee. To our dismay, it was closed, but fortune favored us with the son's stall across the street. The legacy of taste persevered despite the closure of the original restaurant during the pandemic. We indulged in the heong tai mai and savored the warm barley drink. The service was as commendable as ever, though we noted a price increase. Our takeaway included the beloved beef noodles and Singapore fried noodles. However, parking proved challenging due to a new food court occupying what was once a convenient...

My family has been eating there time and time again and found absolutely nothing wrong until tonight. We had some guests visiting from Italy and we were giving them a small tour around the city and bringing them to good food places to try a little bit of everything.
Among the 5 of us we only ordered 1 plate of cantonese noodles for 1 person to try. Understand, before this we were eating already at different places. We also ordered 4 drinks.
All was well and although the noodles weren't as good as they used to be, they were okay still. However, when the bill came we had a heart attack. For 1 serve of noodles for 1 person we were charged RM 20. For the 4 drinks we were charged RM 35. Excuse the malaysian side of me but WALAOWEIH just because we had tourists with us!
The board on the wall says cantonese noodles for RM15 but when we queried the lady she just adamantly said it was RM20. We didn't want to raise a scene so we left quietly.
For tourists, please don't go there. For locals, even though it may not be an issue for you please understand you will be supporting a business that is shady and does not care at all about your dining experience. Hospitality to tourists (and locals) should be a...
Read moreWe came here with the intention of having Stir Fry Beef Flat Rice noodle (Gan Chao Niu He). I missed having the Hong Kong style stir fry beef noodle and still couldn’t find a place that can replicate as good as the one in Hong Kong or even the Hong Kong restaurants found in the UK manned by HK chefs.
I was disappointed with the Stir Fry Beef Flat Rice noodle as the whole plate of noodle tasted sweet. The taste that I remembered was not found at this restaurant.
We also ordered Shang Har prawn noodle and was very satisfied with this. The Shang Har prawn was definitely very fresh. However, I found. The crispy noodle tasted strange, may be due to the oil being used to deep fry the noodle.
I had high expectation due to the long history of this restaurant. But I was somewhat disappointed over all.
Would I return to the restaurant? No. I have had better Shang Har prawn noodle in other place. I wouldn’t even visit this place for Stir Fry Beef Flat Rice noodle.
No photos because I didn’t think it was worth...
