Nestled in the bustling heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Wisma Cosway, Yashi-no-mi offers a cozy escape into the comforting world of Japanese casual dining. With a menu that balances homestyle classics and izakaya favorites, this spot is ideal for a relaxed meal with friends or a solo treat. During a recent visit, we sampled their omu rice, okonomiyaki, chicken cutlet (katsu), and a refreshing highball—here’s the scoop!

Omu Rice: A nostalgic staple done right! The omelette was silky and tender, draped over a mound of lightly seasoned fried rice studded with chicken and vegetables. The star was the demi-glace sauce—rich, savory, and just tangy enough to cut through the egg’s creaminess. Comfort food at its finest.

Okonomiyaki: This Osaka-style savory pancake was a textural delight—crispy on the outside, fluffy within, and loaded with cabbage and tender pork bits. Topped with dancing bonito flakes, a drizzle of Kewpie mayo, and sweet okonomiyaki sauce, it hit all the right umami notes. A must-try for fans of hearty, shareable dishes.

Chicken Cutlet: Juicy, succulent chicken encased in a golden, airy panko crust. Served with a tangy tonkatsu sauce and a side of crisp shredded cabbage, it was simple yet satisfying. While not groundbreaking, it’s a reliable choice for katsu lovers.

Highball: The perfect companion to the meal—smooth whisky paired with effervescent soda, lightly citrusy and incredibly refreshing. It’s a great palate cleanser between bites of rich dishes.

Service & Ambiance: The staff were warm and attentive, offering quick recommendations without hovering. The space is modest but inviting, with wooden accents, soft lighting, and an open kitchen adding to the lively vibe. Seating is snug, so it’s better suited for small groups.

Rating: 45/5 ⭐️ Perfect for a laid-back meal, izakaya-style bites, and whisky highball...

Was recommended to this place by local friends and decided to visit to try it out. Visited on a weekday for lunch and when we arrived at 12 there were only 2 other groups of people but when we were about to leave the place was just packed. Quite a variety of items to order for the mains, but kinda disappointed that there isn't much appetizers to order and there's no desserts. The place seemed pretty authentic to me, at least the food tasted authentic and the TV was showing news from Japan news channel. Ordered pork belly teppanyaki, omu rice and tori karaage. My friend has the teppanyaki and I tried a little and it was pretty good itself the original taste without additional condiments. Loved that the cabbage tasted sweet and crunchy. Then I had the omu rice which I have to say the portion was really big. If you are not a big eater it can actually be shared between 2 people. I was a little disappointed the egg didn't look glossy to be attractive enough, but it was still good. There was really a lot of rice under the egg and it went along very well with the mentaiko sauce. Ordered a tori karaage to share, initially I wanted to order 6 but my friend said we should just have 4. I thought the tori karaage was small bite sized but I was wrong it's definitely so much bigger than typical ones. Now I understood why 4 was enough. It was a quite pleasant meal and the bill was quite reasonable, considering it to be cheap as compared to other eateries around the area. Recommended to try and if you want to come in a group bigger than 4 people, it's recommended to call and make a reservation. Pretty good service from the staff as well. Very attentive and made sure that your drink is...

Make sure book first before you go to avoid disappointment. First round I walk in was informed no more available slot. So 2nd round I made booking and able to get a seat 😃. You can park at wisma cosway, or walk from pavilion via the bridge.

Food we ordered, Omelette mentai rice Very delicious! The rice was full of mentai! Is a must try! 3 person should order big size. We ordered first plate for trial, and order another plate again because it's delicious!

Napolitan spaghetti Not a fan of those tomato flavour spaghetti, but this one is a must try too! Sour enough and very appetizing!

Fried chicken A lot reviews recommended this dish, after tried it, it's not something that I would consider to repeat order again. However the fried chicken size were big enough, and juicy, but not those super crispy type. I personally prefer crispy fried chicken.

Fried corn Personally would recommend this fried corn than the fried chicken. Very nice 👍

Potato salad My friends like it a lot. Something like the egg sandwich filling 😂 taste ok but not as fan as my friend. Definitely...
