I came yesterday for the first time to this restaurant but pizza wasn't available so i decided to come back today. I had a pizza and a dessert and a hot drink and ordered a second dessert. All was well until i ordered another scoop of ice cream with my second dessert but the waiter/manager expressed his disapproval and told me i had to say "please" and that it was rude of me not to say please. Everyone deserves to be respected and i was asking for everything in a friendly tone saying "do you mind" "can I". I find it totally unpleasant and unprofessional to make such a remark to the client especially i didn't have any intentional disrespectful attitude. If the gentleman waiter is also the owner then i have to tell you that being owner or manager does not put you in a position to have a condescending attitude towards your client. You behaved as if you are doing a favor for working and receiving guests. If your work doesn't please you, don't pour your frustration on the client. Besides when i called you to talk about it you were not willing to face my words and you escaped the discussion which confirms your lack of professionalism. Even yesterday when i asked you when pizza is available you were speaking like you have too much pressure in the chest out of impatience . You never asked if everything is ok and on top of that you wanna assess me? Clearly unprofessional! I have never written an assessment for a restaurant in my life but your attitude...
Read moreThis tiny restaurant is just across the road from the Queen Victoria Pub in Valletta and is apparently very popular. We chose to go about 10 minutes after it had opened one evening and found the inside tables already taken, but there was a table available outside – we were lucky we got this as everyone who arrived after us could not be accommodated. I think they take reservations though.
Really nice sounding menu, we chose a mixed cheese and meat board as our starter – this was huge and possibly one of the best that I have had, certainly since I was in Rome – three types of meat, three types of cheese, pate, olives and crackers. Gorgeous. Full of promise that delivered.
Made a bit of a (good) mistake for my main – ordered the chicken ravioli and decided to have it served in a bowl made of pizza dough. Both the ravioli and the bowl were fantastic – really rich flavours. However, I overestimated my ability to eat meat and cheese, pasta and pizza and therefore could not finish. 😊 This is not a bad position to be in, but I think next time I’d have the pasta without the pizza dough bowl if I’m also having a starter. We live and learn.
I would certainly go back to this place again if in Valletta in future.
Oh and we had a lovely bottle of wine to accompany.
The price, overall, was less than 100 Euro for two, which I thought was very reasonable.
Well done....
Read moreNice looking restaurant, until you decide to actually take a seat and order food. We sat inside and the airconditioning was not functioning because the doors were permanently open. We got still water instead of the ordered sparkling water, but i could not make it clear to the foreign ‘waiter’. Then all of a sudden, large clouds of blue smoke came out of the kitchen so we imagined something was probably on fire. Unfortunately for me it appeared to be my pizza when it was served. It was clearly prepared for Satan as it was all black and ready for hell. I was so shocked when they put the plate in front of me, i completely lost my appetite. The pasta was tasteless, half of the mentioned ingredients on the menu were missing and with ricotta supposed to be the main ingredient, i counted 5 flakes in total. This ‘restaurant’ is not ran by Maltese, be aware of fire during your dinner. If you think we were the only ones, the guy next to us immediately complained about his dish missing ingredients too....
