We ate here for dinner on recommendation of our hotel who booked a table for us. There are three places to sit, the vault, the arch and the terrace. If you can, try to sit on the terrace but the arch and vault are lovely too. The decor is classic and simple but with clean and crisp white tablecloths / table settings. The menu is what you would expect, a mixture of classic Mediterranean dishes and some traditional Maltese ones and some specials. Our order was taken relatively promptly, all the servers spoke perfect English. The food was prompt and while we waited we enjoyed fresh warm bread and balsamic vinegar / olive oil. The courses were all well presented and tasted great. We ordered 3 courses each and went for some traditional dishes such as Maltese rabbit. All in all with 3 courses, a bottle of lovely Maltese wine and sparkling water it came to 90EUR. The only improvement would be the time it took to take our order, everything after that was great... Would go again and would recommend.

They have a foreign waiter who can speak Maltese. This is excellent, but please encourage him to interact with Maltese clients in Maltese! And to not keep this to himself. It is wonderful to hire foreigners who can speak our language. The restaurant's interior is beautiful, and deserves consideration just for this. They also cater for large groups. We were quite noisy at times, but they didn't interfere and let us be, which we appreciate. My biggest criticism lies with the portions. One of us ordered the same steak, but as you can see from the photo, was different in size. This isn't a cheap restaurant. Indeed, prices found online do not match the more expensive prices inside. At least, I do not want to leave the restaurant still feeling hungry. The food itself otherwise tastes great, no complaints there. I give service 3 stars because when we complained about the size of the smaller steak, one of the waiters (not the Maltese speaking one) feigned ignorance and brushed off our concerns walking off. Service was also not given with a smile until we engaged in conversation with the waiters later in the evening. One of us was out of cigarettes, and the Maltese speaker did give him one himself, which was sweet. High highs and low lows in this area.

We were so disappointed and this really makes me sad. We went to several Michelin starred restaurants in Malta, this one was by far the worse, not only for a Michelin star restaurant, but for any restaurant in general. First the location is really amazing but that's about it. The goat cheese ravioli were cooked/served in a thick tomato sauce which didn't leave any place to taste anything else than tomatoes - not in a good way. The green leave garnish was thrown on top and made the dish taste like sour tomatoes. The lobster crab ravioli had a good taste but was cold. Main dish: the rabbit's bones were broken, sharp all over the place and there was no way to know what part was meat and what part was bone, as (again) a thick sauce was covering everything. The pork belly was dry inside and super hard outside, no balance whatsoever and almost no sauce at all.The salad had no dressing. The white chocolate cheesecake was super sweet and garnished with amarena cherries which made the whole dish too sweet and served at room temperature just barely eatable. The Tiramisou had a strange side taste of soya. I am really sorry as we were looking forward to this dining experience but the food today was really bad. Hope no tasting chef was there this evening.

A sign of a good restaurant is when they serve piping hot bread rolls instead of the typical cold bread slices. Built into an old war tunnel, Rampila has the unique ambiance of being an underground caven dinning experience that's quite unique. However, this great potential for me has been unfortunately been let down by the quality of the food. Perhaps we had order the wrong dishes. Apart from the octopus (stewed in olive oil with lemon and herbs) which was very good, the other dishes was really quite so so. The meat disihes : both the Irish sirloin steak (with mushroom truffle sauce) and Maltese rabbit were somewhat bland and tough in texture, even though we had asked for the steak to be done medium rare. Somehow something is missing from the taste. To be fair, the chef did indeed grill the steak to medium rare. On hind sight, I should have ordered the octopus as the mains. Succulent and tasty with a good dose of lemon, olive oil and herbs. For the higher price tag and the overalls quality of the food...I'm reluctant to give Rampila a high score. So a 3.5 stars for the ambience and the octopus!

Came to the restaurant super excited since it had great reviews but was utterly disappointed by our truly mediocre experience. I ordered the veal stirloin which I asked the waitress for a rare doneness but she suggested medium rare to which I said okay but I explained my preference is towards rare. The veal came medium well, nothing close to rare. I called the waitress and explained that this is not medium rare to which I got the reply “the chef thinks it is medium rare”. Also my sister is vegan and we asked if they could make anything vegan since there were plenty of things like lentils accompanying meat dishes. She ended up ordering a side dish of roasted potatoes and vegetables. The potatoes were by far the worst we’ve tried. We also tried the rabbit which was very average. The only good thing was the carpaccio but again nothing special. Plus we waited a whole hour before our mains arrived. Bad service, mediocre to bad food. In general very mediocre restaurant for the price you pay. It’s a pity because the atmosphere is really nice.

We went there for my birthday, we made a mistake by booking 2 instead of 3 ppl - honest mistake and they gave us a table but paid the price of it. One of the host was really annoyed that we got the amount of ppl of wrong and gave us a seat in the corner yet the there were plenty of empty tables and could have had a better seat tbh. Service overall was mixed, we had three people different serving us and one server really stood out to us with enthusiasm and Great service. The other two seemed two rush as it was close to shift ending. The food was lovely, I enjoyed the surf and turf, crab ravioli and lemon panacotta. It's one of those places where the food is great, not overly amazing but you are also mainly paying for the settings of the restaurant. Overall would recommend but the servers and hosts do make a slight difference to your experience depending on their mod as the restaurant setting itself is lovely.
