Review of Andales Apartments Above the Bar – Not Recommended Arrived April 16-May 16, 2025 I recently stayed in the apartment section above Andele’s bar, and unfortunately, I would highly not recommend it—especially if you’re sensitive to noise or value cleanliness.

I made the mistake of renting directly through the owner rather than going through Airbnb. When I first saw the place, it looked absolutely beautiful—well-decorated and inviting. However, the reality of staying there was quite different. The building consists of three floors of bars and three floors of apartments. I was on the top floor, and even from there, I could clearly hear loud music until 1 a.m. every night. The noise was relentless.

Even more concerning, there was a rodent issue. Despite several complaints and extermination attempts, the problem persisted. Eventually, they moved me into a different complex they owned—and that was a complete 180. The new place was spotless, beautifully maintained, and the service was excellent. Housekeeping came every other day, and the staff was consistently responsive, attentive, and professional.

I also sampled the bar’s food on arrival. I usually order a few appetizers to get a sense of the kitchen’s quality. Unfortunately, the chicken wings were very dry—definitely not a good first impression.

Good first impression… until the uninvited roommates showed up. Yes—roaches. Lots of them. They “bombed” the place so many times I started wondering if I should be issued hazard pay. Eventually, they moved me to a different property, which—ironically—was actually great. So, the lesson? Skip the apartments above the bar. If you must book with them, insist on the other complex. As for the bar and food upstairs? Your stomach and sanity will thank you for going literally...

This restaurant is nestled in the heart of the Zona Romántica of Puerto Vallarta. This place, simply put, serves some of the best chilaquiles I've ever had.

A cacophony of vibrant colors and laughter welcomed us as we walked in, an ambiance so comforting it felt like coming home after a long journey. The staff were hospitable and attentive, enhancing the experience with their warm demeanor.

However, the true star of the show was their chilaquiles - a dish so delectable, it deserved a standing ovation. The tortilla chips, fried to perfection, retained their crunchy texture while drenched in a hearty, homemade green or red sauce - you can choose based on your preference. The flavors were a symphony in perfect harmony, a balance of earthy, tangy, and spicy notes that were neither overpowering nor underwhelming. The sauce soaked through the chips just enough to meld all the flavors together, but not to the point of sogginess.

Each bite was made more luxurious with the generous sprinkling of queso fresco and crema, adding a smooth, creamy texture that contrasted beautifully with the crunch of the chips. The dish was topped off with a perfectly fried egg, its yolk creating a river of rich golden indulgence, blending seamlessly into the other flavors.

A visit to this restaurant isn't just about the food, it's about experiencing the rich culinary culture of Mexico, distilled into a plate of chilaquiles. The chefs and staff have poured their passion and love for their heritage into each component of this dish, and it shows.

Remember the name. Dream of the chilaquiles. And if you ever get the chance, don't hesitate to indulge. You'll...

This place is a party with great margaritas and very friendly service and regulars. The food was very good overall and there are some nice touches added like the sides and garnishes. The coconut shrimp was scrumptious! My one complaint is that the baby back ribs were a bit gamey with too much bbq sauce added to try and make up for it. This was unfortunate and disappointing, especially for a birthday celebration, but you can’t win them all...The service was excellente and our server spoke English very well 🤗 However, it’s more expensive here than it is currently rated online. It should have two $$.

A well-oiled, local business with fun atmosphere ⭐️ for tourists (Just wish those ribs had lived up to our expectations and server recommendation 😐…)

Side notes: there is AC in a small area of the main bar but the doors are open so it isn’t that cool inside; there is A LOT going on in that same part of the bar with TVs and dancing; the tequila is homemade by the owner’s family (!) and it’s pretty decent in the margaritas (but not exactly smooth, could leave a bad hangover); the bathrooms are upstairs which feels unsafe if you’re drinking one too many or feel faint from the heat; there is a live donkey outside (very cute and also kind of sad); they accept credit cards no problem and no extra charges; you might get into trouble if you’re not careful here 🥴 so have a plan and leave before you...

My husband and I visited Andele for brunch on our first day in Puerto Vallarta to celebrate our anniversary. I had the Chile en Nogada, and my husband had the Bistek Mexicana. Both dishes were exceptional! His bistek was flavorful and perfectly prepared, and my Chile en Nogada was a unique, delightful mix of savory and sweet—unlike anything I’ve had before. I’ll be searching for it back home in California, but I doubt it will compare! We paired our meals with micheladas (or "Cielo Rojo" as we learned it’s called), which were the perfect refreshment to start our day. Our servers, Flor and Audiel, were attentive and friendly, checking on us often and clearing our dishes promptly. Despite my limited Spanish, they made us feel welcome, and we had fun communicating with them. Andele is in Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romantica, the city's vibrant gay district. Located on the main strip, it's surrounded by other restaurants and sits beneath a bar. During the day, it's family-friendly, but after dark—especially on weekends—the atmosphere livens up. If you're concerned about exposing young ones to more adult scenes, I'd suggest opting for takeout! When we return to Puerto Vallarta, Andele will definitely be on our list to visit again!
