First the important stuff. Food was decent, especially the tempura fish. The rest was not that inspiring, but nothing bad. Rice bowl with rib eye was a bit bland but okay. Dessert good.

Service was a bit questionable - the host when seating didn’t give us much choice where to sit, despite the place only having one other couple at 8 pm on a Friday night. That’s fine, maybe it’s a bit early, and they wanted to hold the good tables. A few couples came after us and were given any preference - fine, maybe they’re regulars.

While ordering, we were told no rib eye or shabu shabu - disappointed we went ahead. A couple who came in ten minutes after us were given the shabu shabu - odd. Asked her she said sorry they were expecting a large party or event, so I guess we were the casualty. Was odd we were denied the highlights of the menu.

Atmosphere was nice, it’s definitely well designed and great vibe. Would be a nice place if coming for cocktails, and they have a nice bar upstairs it appears.

Overall...

Ninyas, although having a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing restaurant in the Juarez neighborhood, lacks that wow factor when it comes to the food. The dishes were underwhelming at best—nothing special and downright mediocre. The service was good for the most part, we were treated well. But the food was a disappointment, especially given the high prices. I expected much more but felt dissatisfied.

We started with the teriyaki gyozas, which were nothing special, and then had the tempura prawns, which weren’t tasty at all. I found myself eating more of the fried bits than the actual prawn.

Overall, not only did I feel disappointed, but also still hungry. For the high price, underwhelming food, and still being hungry, it was the biggest...

They didn’t respect my reservation. I made a reservation for counter seating and when I arrived with my guest they wanted to give us a patio seating. I talked to the manager and he didn’t care at all or not even offer something as a glass of water for making us wait for more than 20 minutes after our reservation time. He was very rude and he pointed to go somewhere else. Very disappointed! We left because the experience started terrible already and we were mad. This was a birthday celebration and I felt very sorry for being mistreated already on...

I am staggered by the few poor reviews. It’s like they got confused and reviewed the wrong restaurant. We absolutely loved Ninyas. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were so special. We didn’t know any of the dishes, so we took the suggestions of the owner. What a treat. Every detail was perfection. If you want a true foodie experience in a great atmosphere with service that shows up the moment your brain realizes you want something, this is the place. Stop searching. This is the one you’re looking for.
