After a disappointing night at the Contramar restaurant the day before, we decided to have dinner at O'xacobeo. We were so glad that we went to O'xacobeo. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this delightful Spanish restaurant in Roma-Condesa. The romantic atmosphere and soothing music set the perfect mood for the dinner. The waiter was attentive and courteous. We appreciated his suggestions. The dinner began with bread and small bowl of spicy pureed vegetable soup. We then savored the delicious seafood soup. The portion was very generous with succulent shrimp, sweet crab legs, and tender fish pieces. The broth was simply decadent. The plate of Serrano ham brought us back to Spain! We devoured the Serrano ham with our bread. The red wine enhanced the meat to the next level. The paella arrived in a large plate filled with shrimp, mussels, clams, crabs and pieces of very tasty pork. Strips of red pepper and green snow peas added color to the richness of the paella. We tried our best but could not finish all the rice. We ended our dinner with flan and espresso for me and apple strudel and tea for my wife. We highly recommend this restaurant...
Read moreI took my mom here when I first moved to Mexico City two years ago. We decided to bring my cousin and her family because we had a great experience in 2016. Things seem to have changed.
Our server severely dampened our dining experience. He spoke to us rudely, walked away while we were asking a question, slammed items down on the table, and repeatedly pressured us to buy things we did not want.
The restaurant retains at least two stars because the oxtail continues to taste delicious. But the desserts tasted nasty. I am not one to throw away a dessert (even if it's bad,) but the "bomba chocolate" and cream of Santiago were so gross we literally pushed them away.
It's all the more disappointing because we had such a good experience two years ago...
(2016) A delightful experience from start to finish. Our waiter created an elegant yet warm atmosphere. We had a delicious vegetable salad of palm hearts and tomatoes. Then we had the octopus appetizer - what flavor and tasteful preparation! We finished our meal with the oxtail - the meat was so tender and rich. I strongly recommend this...
Read moreConfused why this place has such good reviews. The atmosphere is pretty grim; looks more like a dungeon than a restaurant. It’s outdated and lifeless, in stark contrast to the beautiful architecture throughout Colonia Roma. The food was sub par and expensive; we ordered a Caesar Salad that literally had the dressing dripping like water from it. The lettuce was also bitter and wilted as if not fresh, and the waiter became aggressive when told and said “this is the only lettuce that exists.” We’re still trying to figure out what that means. Bottom line, there are SO MANY great places nearby. This city is literally a food paradise. Don’t waste your time...
