Very unfortunate experience we had here, but based off of other reviews, it was a common thing. Very disappointed.
We ordered (from the Spanish menu) two drinks called Ojo Rojos listed at $65 MXN pesos each (About $3.50-$3.75 USD each). They were Bloody Mary's but with beer vs vodka. The waitress then charged us $200 MXN (About $10 USD and listed on the ENGLISH menu..) for the pair claiming that the beer was an extra. NOT TRUE AND NOT COOL. I know this to not be true because this is my drink of choice and order it quite frequently. It was literally the only reason we decided to stop into Toro's.
When we asked what was going on with the bill (all we got were the two drinks), she began to go on and on about the ingredients and the this and that and blah blah blah. It was hella sketchy, and whether the waitress was just doing what she was taught to do or she was the one being sketchy, I'm sad to report that we will not be going back.
We have been living in Mexico for almost 3 years, we currently reside in Coz now, and we know what's normal and what's not. This was not. I usually don't base a decision to not return on one experience and over drinks, but after reading these other reviews.. I feel comfortable, yet saddened, with not returning the...

So the one dollar beer with food was a bust. Ordered a pina colada that seemed to have no liquor in it at all, fiancé ordered a margarita that didn’t seem to have any tequila in it either. Food came out and it was okay. We ordered the Mexican dinner for two. Quesadillas were bland, tacos were the better but no where near as good elsewhere on the island. Expected the bill to be $34 and it comes out $40. I enquire the difference and the waiter says it is a service charge. This was ludicrous as he did not deserve a 20 percent tip as he was pushy, and extremely rude to the table next to ours. Yes he was judged based on how they treat other customers. Not a one star as neither of us got sick, but definitely not worth going back either. Much better places with better views if you are willing to walk a little bit south of the main square. Cozumel is our annual dive trip and we felt treated as if we were here for 8 hours with a cruise. I hope the cruisers don’t come here as there truly is some great service and drinks on the island if you spend a little time to find them. Don’t waste your time...
Read moreIn short. I would recommend all foreigners steer wide left of this place. I had a wet shirt stolen from me, right under my nose. If you come here prepare to leave with some of your belongings missing along with a manager that will give you the classic third world run around when asked to answer for some accountability.
I came to this place after a recommendation from our tour guide from Andreas Tours (Il Cielo Trip)
In short. I hung up my soaking wet shirt on the empty table beside me, with acknowledgment from the manager (short portly guy with the mustache) … assured that it was fine there.
The restaurant was mostly empty. A few minutes later my girlfriend (Mexican national) realized it was missing.
This was all in plain view before our first drinks had even arrived. I admit a higher degree of awareness is required in Mexico as most visitors and tourists should be aware, I was not drunk nor was my girlfriend. Just a little tired from an afternoon in the Sun.
I’ll leave this review short and to the point. Don’t visit unless you like to have your things stolen by overzealous staff. Even soaking wet shirts are fair game.
Don’t say I...
