Its a very ordinary restaurant with very very ordinary food. The kind of food that costs Rs 100 max, even by Indian standards which is higher than Nepal standards any day. To top it all, the guy who came with us sat in the same table with us, therefore we had no privacy at all. It was our babymoon and we desperately wanted to be alone. I communicated the same with the guy, he just shrugged but made no attempt to shift. Hence, we did not press more. Throughut dinner, he kept on playing with his mobile and we were stuck with bland cheap food with zero privacy. The rice was not of good quality, the dal, sabzi and chicken were very ordinarily cooked. The kind of food people have for everyday, that too poor people.
My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a virgin mojito to somehow enjoy the situation. The beer was local brand, which was the cheapest and was available widely across Kathmandu, costing 80 Nepali Rs which they charged around 500 bucks. I can't even start to describe my drink. It was pathetic beyond any adjective. It was water mixed with lime. And nothing else. Absolutely nothing else.
The place did not have air-condition and we were dripping sweat by end of 30 mins. Somehow they arranged a cooler after repeated request and we had to share with another table because they were also hot.
Its better not to talk about the cultural dances at all. It seemed like this restaurant got hold of some random people on street and put them on stage. The dancers did not know how to dance at all, they were barely moving hands and legs. They were sore to our eyes. Its better not to watch them at all. Many people even opted not to look at them as they were so pathetic. The guy who was sitting with us, playing with his mobile whole time did not bother to look up once. I guess he knows how pathetic this is.
Overall, we were very happy to leave. In fact as I got up few times in between to just leave this pathetic place and the guy who stuck with us, but my husband said it would be disrespectful. So, somehow I had to sit even if it was...
Read moreIt’s dinner and a show at Bhojan Bhumi! Not only do they feature a cultural program with traditional dances, they also offer a multicourse Nepali meal with appetizers, mains, desserts, and drinks! The meal started with a basket of popcorn and a very strong rice wine poured into an overflowing ceramic ramekin. The appetizers included Aloo Tareko (fried potatoes), Kwanti Ko Jhol (a soup made of 9 different beans), and my favorite, 3 Momocha (steamed dumplings with minced chicken). But the highlight of the meal was the main course served on a metal thali by an army of waiters dishing out each of the components individually with unlimited helpings of everything! The thali centered on Sada Bhuja (white rice) and a cup of Kalo Daal (black lentil soup). The vegetables included Mismas Tarkari (spiced cauliflower, green beans, potatoes) and Jhaneko Saag (sautéed spinach). The two meat dishes were Kukhurako Masu (bone-in chicken in a spiced curry) and my favorite, Bandel Tareko (fried spiced strips of wild boar with peppers and tomatoes). Finally, a dollop of Achar (tomato chutney) acted as a sweet, tangy, spicy condiment to enhance the flavors of all the other components. Of the mains, I was especially a fan of the Kalo Daal, Mismas Tarkari, Jhaneko Saag, and Bandel Tareko, but everything was flavorful and delicious. Finally came a dessert of Shikarni (mango-flavored yogurt), a lightly sweet and tangy finish to an incredible meal. But it wasn’t just the food and performances that made eating here such a memorable dining experience—the service was extraordinarily friendly and hospitable and was super attentive to...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bhojan Bhumi, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff made us feel right at home.
The menu offers a fantastic variety of authentic dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and perfectly balanced spices. We tried the dal bhat set, which was absolutely delicious, with every element cooked to perfection. The momo were fresh, juicy, and paired beautifully with their homemade dipping sauce.
The service was impeccable—our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived promptly and was served with a smile.
One of the highlights of the evening was the cultural dance show. The performance was vibrant and beautifully executed, adding a special touch to the dining experience. It truly showcased the rich cultural heritage and made the evening even more memorable.
To top it off, the presentation of the dishes was elegant, and the portions were generous, offering great value for money. Whether you’re craving authentic flavors or just looking for a cozy dining spot with great entertainment, Bhojan Bhumi is a must-visit!
Highly recommend and will...
