The Krapow! The most common street food across Thailand. I had been wanting to try this item so much since some of my friends told me about it, who visited Thailand few weeks ago and I have been to almost every Thai restaurant in Kathmandu which are already a very few in numbers to fulfill my craving but none could provide the taste as described by them. So after losing every bit of hope I had to have a good Krapow here in Nepal I found out about this place. First I was amazed looking at their prices cause Thai food is more of a luxury here in Kathmandu and comes for a hefty price. This place charged only Nrs 200 per plate which is like 1/3 of what other Thai restaurants charge in Kathmandu! Since I had made an effort of coming all the way to this place with next to no hopes I ordered the Chicken Krapow. As soon as it arrived to my table which was pretty fast. The steam, the aroma, the cute little clean plate with that fried egg on top of the rice I was awestruck, my hopes were getting high again. I couldn’t wait for a second and jumped into my food, the first spoon full of rice, the minced meat swimming in that sauce and that fried egg, the perfect blend of spice and sweet. I wanted to shout out with joy but was completely lost in the taste, fully indulged. And my friends also said the aroma, ditto from Thailand and the taste too? Only for Nrs 200 in such nice plating. They couldn’t believe we were getting that taste in Nepal. Felt like time had kept me waiting for this too good to be true surprise. Didn’t even take 2 mins to finish the dish and order another double portion! I couldn’t thank the cook, the waiter enough for cooking and serving me the food. I give a big GREEN SIGNAL from my side to this place. And the other best part about this restaurant is that their menu is A-la Carte so you can have more for less and they don’t charge any VAT or Service Charges. A must must must visit, very highly...
Read moreLess is more! That is all I can say about this fun filled food joint. I’m very much of a meat lover but have been trying to cut down on meat since the past few months so I decided to go for something vegetarian.
I noticed that they had Vegan options too so I decided to go for the healthiest of options they had recommended by the cook The Tofu Phad Phak.
It had a very mild yet pleasing taste. Very different from the usual Thai style flavour burst of sourness or spice or sweetness. From the mellow taste and texture of the Tofu to the crunch of the Pak Choi complimented by the garlic and belly busting green peppers,it was just perfect.
The rice was also really good soaking the sauce and flavours very well. In short it was really nice. Considering the variety of quality and choices they offer in such a small menu and for a very decent price it caters the vegetarians and vegans very well.
The food was really good, pocket friendly and healthy too. I would eat in or order from them very soon for sure. I recommend all you vegans/vegetarians not forgetting to mention the meat lovers to visit this place. It’s a must go...
Read moreAwesome experience visiting this place. I was craving Thai food and am so happy I came across this small restaurant. My friend and I were the first to arrive quickly followed by a family of 4. The person there was prompt to take our orders and then we quickly realized he was also the chef (and probably the owner). He was attentive and it was great having a view of the kitchen to see him in action. It was like we were dining in someone’s home - cozy atmosphere and great food. He brought out all our dishes together - I was impressed at how he managed to do this and give us all warm and delicious plates. He knows what he’s doing! Definitely worth a visit if you are in Kathmandu. Keep in mind the place is cash only (rupees) so plan...
