I cannot oversell this place. If you're looking for kind, genuine people in the heart of Kathmandu, this is where you want to go. As stated by many people before, the rooms are cleaned regularly and are very tidy and comfy, and the hotel has a real vibe, thanks to the work of its team who made everything by themselves and who turned the place into something resembling them: warm, soothing and welcoming. You'll be provided with towels, bath gel, shampoo, WI-Fi... everything to make your arrival as smooth as possible. The food served at the rooftop restaurant is something I wholeheartedly recommend. The hotel is located very close to all the amenities you might need (trekking shops, restaurants, souvenir boutiques, ATM, Western Union...) Durbar Square, Ratna Park, Maitidevi Temple, Rani Pokhari, multiple Thangka schools, as well as a lot of traditional Newari houses, are all within walking distance. The staff speak English, and there's always someone there, day or night, even during Dashain. They'll go out of their way to help you with everything you'll dare throwing at them: taxi, bus to Pokhara, guided tours, you name it. Speaking of the staff: I unfortunately fell rather sick for a few days following my arrival, but the people were so incredibly kind I'll forever cherish these moments. They took care of me like I was their son, and were probably the nicest human beings I had ever met. Thanks to all of you (special thanks to a certain Mr. P. Nepal) from the bottom of my heart, and see you soon.

Hotel with a homely feel and it's earthen and traditional artifacts and painting all over the property right from entrance to rooms. The hotel staff are the most humble and gentle people I have come across in my travels till now. They will go one more step to help you out with anything possible in their rights. Now coming to the reason for giving it 3 star only. As per my stay, first and foremost because of it's location with busy and narrow streets where getting traveller vans is difficult and second noises at night from nearby clubs and pubs. Though for people who enjoy nightlife it's a great location, here you will find best of Kathmandu clubs at a walking distance. Suitable for backpackers, trekkers, lone traveller or budget travellers not if you are going on vacation with big family can't consider this a leisure property.. No TV or outdoor space for kids to enjoy.. Not the cleanest of Lenin. Note: *If you are planning a visit with older people don't consider it as there is no lift at the moment. *No space for parking.

Pavillion Inn is located in the most central part of Thamel and as far as location goes, it couldn't get better. The staff are extremely friendly and very accommodating (I booked the room for the wrong dates and Mr. Mahesh was able to fix it in a minute even though I realized my blunder at the last possible minute). The room is comfortable and serves the purpose, you're here for the experience not luxury, so have reasonable expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Pavilion Inn and all the staff including Mr. Tika and I forget the name of the other person (he recommended the book Mad Country and it was perfect - Nepalese stories by a Nepali author). I didn't have the chance to try their food so I can't really say anything about that. The beds are comfortable but they don't have an AC but that was disclosed in the listing too. Verdict - Would definitely suggest for people who are looking for a central place with easy access to the city and are not looking for rose petals-on-your- bed kind of luxury.

This hotel receives some of the highest ratings on Booking.com, Expedia.com, and here. We booked the hotel as a result and were just amazed at the disconnect between the reviews and the reality. The hotel is dim and claustrophobic. Staff are fairly helpful. However, the rooms -- or at least the one we were assigned -- are uncomfortable and dirty.||We found lights broken, garbage still on the floor from a previous tenant, and a dingy, very tight, and unclean bathroom. There were mosquitos in the room, probably due to the window that would not close, leaving an always-open 1.5cm gap. The air conditioner turned on, but then turned off. The towels were grey. The bed was small, mushy, and poor quality and sagged to the middle. ||The window was filthy, but no matter, it looked out to a wall a couple of feet away. ||We stayed only a couple of hours while I searched for a better hotel. On leaving, I received no difficulty or quarrel with the staff. Again, they were quite reasonable. ||What really bothers me is that this hotel has risen to, or near to, the top on many sites. I understand that my North American perspectives may not square with those of people from around the world, but still, it seems improbable that so many would praise this property so enthusiastically. ||My advice is simply to lower your expectations significantly if you stay here. It is a cheap place to lay down your head, but it's no more, and probably something less, than you should expect...

Ambiance is ok. Decoration is awesome. Location is good. Roof balcony is nice. But the rooms are really small, and bed is little and not confortable. Room is noisy and humid. They clean daily, but somehow it feels dirty anyway. The staff isn't trustworthy, they are not there to help you but instead, they will try to charge you extra for anything you ask (laundry, taxi, bus, etc) Overall price for the room is high for what you get for. It has good potential, because the decoration is really awesome, but we did not like the staff treat us only like money bags. Come on... we have already paid you enough money for the little room, no need to try to get little extra income, it does not feel great. I would even pay little bit more for the room if they were willing to help instead of charging you extra for every little service. Edit: Their answer tells the laundry, taxi and bus has to be paid by the guest. Of course! But this Hotel do not give you the real price for those services or even help you to obtain a fair price, they will just try to gain some extra rupees giving you a increased price for everything you ask for. Their help always cost a price. I hope this improves because the Hotel is nice, but the service isn't trustworthy and it is definitly a...
