I would like to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for the exceptional kindness and bravery shown by the staff at during the terrifying events of the Amsterdam pogrom. When we found ourselves in immediate danger, we ran into the bar, seeking refuge. The staff welcomed us with open arms, offering not only a safe haven but also emotional support during an incredibly frightening time.

They ensured that we were well taken care of, providing food, comfort, and reassurance when we needed it most. What truly stood out was their unwavering generosity—the team refused to let us pay for anything, showing that their commitment to our safety and well-being far exceeded any financial considerations.

Furthermore, the staff went above and beyond, personally escorting us to our hotel once the danger had passed, ensuring that we remained safe until we were out of harm's way.

Cafe Oporto is a fantastic hidden local pub even though it is in an alley just off of Dam Square. I was here on new years and even though most were coming in drives the staff was quick, friendly, and service with a smile was the motto of the day. The bartenders are the friendliest bunch! The locals are fun and talkative & open to great conversations with visitors and tourists. There is a dart board in back with room for some games and a free little snugs to cozy up to. Talk about finding a diamond what a great little bar this is. Although the real star of the show was the hostess with the mostess "Janice". What a barrel of laughs that girl was, made us all feel really special and treated us like long lost friends. We had been to many other bars during our stay and had been treated like tourist intruders, but here we had the time of our lives and for the first time we were truly able to relax and have some real fun.
