I recently dined at Cafe stir in Christchurch, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this charming eatery boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The rustic decor, complete with reclaimed wood and soft lighting, sets the perfect backdrop for a cozy meal.
The menu is a delightful blend of farm-to-table ingredients, showcasing seasonal dishes that celebrate local flavors. I started with the big breakfast which was a vibrant mix of fresh tomatoes, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, hash browns and a tangy relish—each bite bursting with flavor. The portion size was generous, leaving me completely satisfied.
The service was equally impressive. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring our glasses were never empty. To finish off the meal, I couldn’t resist the homemade cakes. It was the perfect balance of rich and light, making it a must-try.
Overall, Cafe stir exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, warm ambiance, and exceptional service. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable...
Read moreIt's not often that I give cafes bad reviews as I am a qualified chef and I know how hard it can be. There IS NO excuse for terrible service. It was a hot day and my friend and I wanted iced drinks, I had a coffee and my friend had a chocolate. My iced coffee was disgusting the espresso shot they had put in it was burnt beyond recognition, and my friends iced chocolate apparently tasted like milk with a little chocolate taste to it. And the waitress was so rude to us. I saw her carrying our order and I said I think that might be ours because she was looking flustered and she turned to me and yelled st me, no this is not yours you will have to wait...what the hell??? We were polite and chatty. Turns out it was ours... at $7.50 each and the poor service and quality I will not be recommending this place. The decor is cool and we were looking forward to...
Read moreI ordered a margherita pizza. Never thought a pizza can be ruined. It was tasteless....and I mean TASTELESS. It had no sauce. Bottom felt like a frozen pizza and it was reheated. It also left a grainy-like texture after taste that makes you have to drink fluids. The pizza had tomato slices underneath the thick, tasteless cheese, and that was all the flavor this pizza offered. Hate to call it cardboard but it was nearly cardboard.
The risotto...see the picture and see for yourself. Looks likes someone's left overs.
Ordered an iced spicy chai latte and it was mostly ice and whipped cream. Two to 4 sips and the drink was done.
Lastly, I asked what the "open chicken sandwich" on the menu meant and inlcuded. Cashier was...
