While everything else is nearly perfect, the ambiance could be improved. The bright orange sofas stand out a bit too much and replacing them with more subtle colors could create a calmer and more inviting atmosphere.

We visited this newer location Dosa Plaza (which earlier used to be on Dominion Road), for lunch on a weekend. The location is easily accessible. However it is very difficult to find car parking, even paid one on streets and parking lot, because of the busy Takapuna beach location. The food was nicely prepared and tasty. The South Indian food (Dosa, Idli etc.) we ordered came in time, but the North Indian thali took way longer (that's why the 4 star rating instead of 5 star). The staff was nice and helpful. Toilets are available, which are shared with other adjoining eateries. Prices are on the higher side, but is not a deal breaker, given the quality of food. Well...

Embarrassed that I suggested trying Dosa Takapuna to my friends who are visiting from overseas. The extensive Indian/Chinese/Italian menu should have altered me to the fact that their main speciality is the microwave reheat button. All dishes were luke-warm, and either lacked flavour or were heavily salted. The accompanying chutneys were bland from what appeared to be defrosting.
