Go Ramen — Restaurant in Waitematā

Ramen uses all canned ingredients, the moment you walk in you can literally see a giant Watties can of corns. Everything in the dishes has that distinct canned taste. Egg is just a standard boiled egg, no marination and is quite overcooked. Noodle and soup tastes OK, overall feels very home made. Meal also takes a while for them to prepare for what it is. Price is OK, about $17 for a medium sized bowl of noodles which won't satisfy bigger appetites. Flavor isn't authentic at all, but if you're nearby and want a noodle soup bite that tastes vaguely Japanese, this is good. Location is cozy and the food looks pretty, presentation-wise at least

Service is well.. non existent as you order at the kiosk, and the staff won't even greet you or say goodbye.

If you want more authentic and way more delicious Ramen I recommend Ramen Do on Symonds street or Ippudo in New Market. Ramen do is similarly priced but miles better. But come here for the convenience.

I just wanted to tell you I absolutely LOVE this ramen store. It has been my go to ramen store for the past few months now and I probably come here once every week-two weeks sometimes with my partner but a lot of the time by myself. I’ve been coming here for about a year now, maybe longer.

Let me tell you this ramen is insanely good, their spicy tonkotsu ramen is my absolute favourite. The spice level is great, the flavour it just melts in my mouth and the noodles are really great too. I always add in extra eggs and meat because it’s just so great! They’re always really popular too however only one thing is that when I do order my ramen to be Spicy, when I come on Saturdays, I think because the staff are different they barely make it as spicy as the weekday people do. Also just wanted to mention one more thing, I’ve found a lot recently I have been requesting to remove some of the vegetables, not all but some because I don’t like some and it hasn’t been removed, this has happened more than several times now.

I had thought they didn’t take negative review for my case but I’ve noticed another recent review and it turns out they are always so defensive. For my case, I think the taste is good but I found a bug later. A guy I dont know if he is cook or business owner, is so defensive. He said it wasn’t their fault, implying the bug was there after serving. I didn’t argue too much. Once coming home, my hindsight is that the bug was already underneath the soup cuz I have taken a picture before eating. The photo shows no bug there.
