I recently dined at Tony's, the iconic steakhouse in Auckland CBD, which has been serving patrons for an impressive 60 years. The moment I walked in, I was captivated by the charming decor that exuded vintage elegance. The display of vintage items and old black-and-white pictures of the city added a wonderful nostalgic touch. The staff at Tony's were a delight - welcoming, kind, and exceptionally attentive throughout our meal. Their outstanding service was truly the highlight of our visit. While the drinks were undeniably delicious, it's worth noting that the servings were on the smaller side, which might not suit everyone's preferences. Our dining experience took a slight dip with the appetizer, as the calamari turned out to be a tad too salty for our liking, leaving us with half of it untouched. However, things quickly turned around when our T-bone steaks arrived. They were nothing short of amazing, boasting juiciness and just the right amount of char to elevate the flavor. Surprisingly, no sauce was necessary to enhance the taste. The potato and kumara mash were heavenly, and the brussel sprouts provided a tasty complement to the main dish. My partner's T-Bone was slightly drier than mine, but it was still an enjoyable dish overall. Dessert was a mixed bag. We opted for the Pavlova, which, while having a delicious meringue, fell slightly short in terms of fruit and presentation. It wasn't as visually appealing as we hoped for, but the meringue itself was undeniably scrumptious. In addition to the delightful dining experience, the affordable bill was a nice surprise. For the sumptuous feast we enjoyed, including two delectable T-Bone steaks and our delightful drinks, the total came to a mere $185. This outstanding value for money adds to the reasons why I would eagerly return to Tony's in the future. It's not every day you find such a combination of top-notch service, culinary excellence, and affordability in a restaurant, especially one with a rich history spanning 60 years.

I got the T-Bone ($45.00) and 2 oysters ($2.50 ea). The oysters were AMAZING, 5 stars, def recommend. I ordered the T-bone medium-rare, and although i can't say it's the best I've ever had, it's up there. It came with a salad, which was pretty good and chips. Honestly the chips were a bit cardboard-y but they do offer ketchup (i went without). HOWEVER, they have POWDERED pepper. Just personally, the pepper was so mild you might as well not put any. The service was up there, the receptionist/cashier was very kind, and you had waiters constantly patrolling around to check if you need anything. It can be a bit intimidating for introverts though, but they're all really nice and accommodating. I was dining around 6 or 7pm, so there was a pretty standard flow of people, and my food was ready quite fast. I was originally going to play on my phone but they were so efficient i didn't even get the chance too XD The atmosphere was alright, I asked for a corner window seat :) I feel like the vibe (and the price TT) gave upper middle class, and there were quite a few families and friends hanging out. Also they have affogato, juice and soft drinks available for anyone that doesn't drink alcohol at pretty reasonable prices, and water is already provided :) Was recommended by a friend, worth a try (especially the oysters).

Update 14/1/2025. Excellent lunch special. Eye Fillet with Bernaise Sauce was Deluxe. Chips are now A1 too! Ok so wandered in without a booking. Greeting was good and I was seen to a table. It was pretty busy - a good sign. I ordered the Bernaise Fillet Steak and vegetables, fries as the sides. A glass of Craggy Range Shiraz and I was set. The steak was great. Perfectly cooked medium rare. Vegetables excellent. Fries were a real let down - tired and tasteless. C’Mon guys - a quality steak restaurant must pride itself on its fries!!! I ordered the Apple Pie for dessert. It looked great - but like the fries the pie pastry was a real let down. It was dry and listless and I suspect the pie had seen the inside of a microwave during the heating process. Apple Pie with rubbish pastry - almost as sinful as great steak and sub par fries. Food score could have been so much better if not let down by a couple of key issues. Service was really good, wine was good - so overall 4 stars.

Absolutely phenomenal place to dine at, great tasting food and drinks, would recommend to anyone wanting a great night out at a gem of a restaurant. The waitstaff were warm, friendly & attentive from the moment we walked in and continued to be throughout the night. Decor was very bright, clean and welcoming. All the food was cooked fresh and tasted divine no complaints at all. Death by chocolate cocktail was amazing, the "ugly" beef burger and chicken buffalo wings were really delicious and tasted great. And to top it off for dessert the brandy snaps with freshly whipped cream was a classic but gold, I was expecting the instant whipped cream from a spray-can but was pleasantly surprised when I could tell it was real freshly whipped cream on the plate that came out, it's the small things like that impressed me and continued to do throughout the night. All in all a really fantastic time, I will be coming here again with my friends and family. Thank you to the team at Tonys!

I arrived today at 6:30 sharp for my reservation and it was already busy there. So do remember to book before you go for your convenience. First, the service was warmly and nice. They checked everything and the frequencies were just alright. My friend and I ordered one entree, two mains and shared a dessert. Pictures are as followed. (Buffalo chicken wings/Pepper steak/Tony’s original/chocolate hot pot). In all, both of the steak were really nice, pepper steak had a pepper crust and Tony’s original had the soft sweet flavor with the sauce. The chicken wings were juicy inside and crispy outside, however it looked like they were not seasoned appropriately for this time. The chocolate hot pot was a little bit too sweet for me but the berries on the bottom was a surprise, which increased the texture and flavor. Will come back for sure and try something different on the menu! Thanks a lot!!!

Wow! What a meal! I took my 9 year old son out for a special meal for our first night in Auckland after hearing of its popularity, decided to book Tony’s and what a choice that turned out to be! I had the fillet, which, as described, melted in the mouth, all of the produce was delicious, along with my son’s matching meal, it was exactly what he wanted, a perfectly cooked, beautiful cut of meat! It was before we got our main course that my son said about one of the waitresses, “dad, I think that’s Bubba from Celebrity Treasure Island, I love her, she was my favourite!” Sure enough, working at Tony’s was Bubba! I apologetically asked if my son could have a photo as he’s a huge fan, she was amazing about it and looked genuinely stoked that she had a little fan! Awesome dinner, excellent atmosphere and an unforgettable experience. Rightly regarded as the best in the City! Thanks Team!
