A Heavenly Stay at Belmond Monasterio – A Sacred Blend of History, Hospitality, and Heart From the moment we arrived at Belmond Monasterio, we were embraced with warmth and genuine care by every member of the staff. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s an experience that nourishes the soul. Once a monastery, the property retains its sacred energy, enhanced by awe-inspiring historical church-centered art and elegant colonial architecture that transports you to another time. Every detail is curated with reverence and intention. The hotel is immaculately clean, and the vibrant fresh flower arrangements throughout the halls elevate the serene beauty of the space. Sunday morning breakfast was a highlight—a colorful and healthy array of local delicacies that celebrated Peruvian cuisine. The adobo pork soup was deeply flavorful, the fruit selection impeccably cut and sweet, and the breads were baked fresh to perfection. My poached eggs were light and satisfying, a perfect start to the day. Dinner was equally divine. The staff and manager went above and beyond, offering impeccable service with professionalism, grace, and heartfelt kindness. Belmond Monasterio is not just a five-star hotel—it’s a sacred sanctuary where luxury meets legacy. An unforgettable stay I would recommend to anyone seeking beauty, history, and heartfelt hospitality in Cusco

A place with special ambiance, which you feel in every stone of this Monastery. Although has many rooms it still manages to keep the boutique feeling and high quality service standards with attention to details which i think is the magic formula in todays "luxury retreats" ! Truly unique place and nothing similar to new hotels ( which might have there charm as well sometimes ;) . Special moments to remember : The fireplace at night, and in the morning the specialty coffee station which has been a full surprise ( located in a beautiful courtyard which you would never want to leave. One of the big things which i tend to heavily dislike in hotels and hospitality is the cheap coffee at breakfasts, yet this place is totally challenging the traditional ( quick to go - low quality- machine coffee ) by introducing an expert Barista ! Special Thank you to Santiago for being patient and true expert and to Carlos who made the stay smooth as possible ! Perhaps one of the things for the hotel management to consider and improve are the " room amenities " and the shower toiletries, l have visited other Belmond resorts and luxury stays in many countries and felt much more attention could be still giving to refine this part and make it more meaningful and integrated with the bigger iconic experince this place is offering !

Belmond Monasterio: The Best Hotel in Cusco, Beyond Any Comparison Without exaggeration, Belmond Monasterio is the best hotel in Cusco. Even after trying two other higher-priced Belmond properties (Sanctuary lodge and Palacio Nazarenes),the JW Marriott, I still firmly believe this is the ultimate choice. The beauty of this hotel is beyond words. The elegant public spaces and tranquil gardens create an atmosphere of timeless serenity. The classic, historic walls whisper stories of the past, while the dazzling golden chapel adds a breathtaking sense of grandeur. Every detail is a masterpiece. Yet, what truly sets Belmond Monasterio apart is its service. The staff are warm, professional, and genuinely caring. Their service attitude is impeccable—perhaps the best in South America. A prime example: when I lost my credit card, they found it and returned it promptly. Compared to the Los Cabos Waldorf (which I mention due to its premium pricing), this hotel’s service is on another level—infinitely more personal, thoughtful, and heartfelt. I would love to give special recognition to my butler, Eric, for his outstanding service. In short, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Endless love for Belmond Monasterio.

We stayed here two nights and experience was just beyond expectations. Hotel itself is very historical, artistics, relaxing, spiritual, clean. Staying here made us feel like we are queen and king of Inca. So many paintings on the wall, beautiful well maintened garden, flowers. Every stuff we encounterd are friendly, professional, thoughtful, hard workers and helpful. They are very dedicated to their professionalism. Food is amazing. Breakfast has a lot of selections. Nothing can beat the Freshly squeezed fruits juice (a few kinds) in the morning. Corns in Peru is nothing is close to what we eat in North America. Then we realize how GMO corns are so fake.

Especially one guy names Jorge, said Hi and asked us how our trip was going every time when we run into him in the hotel. He helped us to get a room ready at 7 am in the morning after our 16 hours transportation to Cusco( even though their check in is 3pm), upgraded our room to junior suit for no charge. We could take naps and recharge for city tour on the same day. He definitely made our trip! We are so thankful. Location is perfect. Close to everything include plaza.

Personal opinion about room.: As much as we appreciated the accommodation of upgrading to junior suit, we didn’t like it It it because it was loft suit. It was so hard for us to get up and down the stair with altitude sickness. We felt dizzy badly and stairs made it worse. Therefore I recommend people to get not loft suit especially if you already have altitude sickness. Sickness reach the worst when you wake up because of dehydration. And the bed is upstairs. They are very dedicated and they will do their best to accommodate you if you ask so.

Anyway, it was amazing. It was so sad to leave this Hotel. I have never felt attached to hotel or people on the trip. I have gone to many country before. The feeling is like similar to when you watch amazing musical, acrobats, you don’t want it to end.. This hotel and members made me feel like their our family in Peru.

I want to come back here again once more in my life Thank you for amazing memory. I love Peru and people in Peru because...

The Belmond Monasterio is an excellent property full of history and character. I would've given The Monasterio a full five stars, except there's a catch, and I'll explain later.

The Monasterio is located a mere 5 minute walk (7 if you're taking it easy and acclimating to the altitude like we were) from Cusco's Plaza de Las Armas, the main city square. It is also part of Nazarena Square, which has its share of restaurants and shops. For this reason, you're never far from the places of interest and activity in Cusco.

As with the other Belmond properties we've stayed at, the true star of the show at The Monasterio is its entire cast. Everyone we encountered was helpful and friendly. No complaints here.

We had lunch at Illariy, The Monasterio's casual dining option. The food did not disappoint, and as usual, service was impeccable.

We stayed at one of The Monasterio's one-bedroom courtyard suites. The suite was beautifully appointed with elegant contemporary furniture that juxtaposed nicely against the 17th century artwork that adorned the walls throughout the hotel. The suite was spacious, and the service team at The Monasterio graciously welcomed us with the charcuterie and cheese platter as well as with a chilled bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne. We couldn't find any fault with that.

However, if there's one significant miss that the hotel's designers should've addressed, it's the bathroom in this suite. The bathroom itself is spacious; that's not the problem, but when not adequately heated, that can be problematic. Keep in mind we visited The Monasterio during Peru's spring, so the weather was cool especially in the evenings. Taking a shower was a challenge in that it was difficult to keep warm. The stone floor of the bathroom is not heated, so one can't comfortably walk around barefoot. The shower is open on one end, so even with the shower running, the steam doesn't keep you warm at all. The Belmond should consider installing floor heat or heat lamps or a space heater safe for humid rooms. In my opinion, this was a significant demerit.

That aside, I would wholeheartedly recommend...

Our five-day and five-night experience at Monasterio, A Belmond Hotel, Cusco was undoubtedly the most beautiful and unique part of our two-week trip to Peru!||||The hotel environment is elegant and beautiful, with a rich and diverse breakfast that is exquisitely delicious. I couldn't resist having a large bowl of beef broth every morning! The thoughtfully provided room oxygen and 24-hour self-service hot tea helped us quickly overcome altitude sickness and fully enjoy our trip. Additionally, the most impressive and grateful part was the hotel's sincere, thoughtful, and enthusiastic high-quality service. When we reported the noise from nearby staff working at night, the hotel manager Giuliana Garzon and front desk supervisor Miguel Leiva immediately addressed the issue. They kindly upgraded us to a deluxe suite for free to compensate for our minor inconvenience.||||Sunlight streamed into the room through the lush courtyard, warmly spreading over the soft and comfortable bed... Everything was so peaceful and beautiful, like a scene from a movie. The perfect rest and relaxation completely erased our travel fatigue. Tasting the delicious desserts and fragrant Inca tea sent by the hotel, I wished time could stop at that moment!||||During those days, manager Giuliana Garzon and front desk supervisor Miguel Leiva constantly cared for our needs, providing us with many unexpected, attentive arrangements. We spent an extremely enjoyable and unforgettable few days.||||They also noticed my husband's birthday and arranged a delightful Italian opera dinner for us on his special day! Everyone wished him a happy birthday, and when we returned to our room, there was a birthday cake with lit candles waiting for us! We felt so happy and cherished by the thoughtful attention!||||Believe me, the hotel is not just a resting place during your trip; its architecture, courtyard, facilities, and excellent service deserve to be seen as a must-visit, unique, and stunning attraction in Cusco! Come and find another elegant and beautiful side of Cusco, uniquely yours, at Monasterio, A Belmond...
