Caruso Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in Makati

Our experience at Caruso Ristorante Italiano was 5 star. We lived in Italy for several years and we aren't easily surprised by Italian restaurants outside of Italy. This restaurant is the exception. Leo the Manager runs a efficient elegant experience on the level of any fine Italian restaurant in Italy. The ambiance is very old world traditional wood, brass and copper. The art is a playful modern interpretation of Italian food and locations. The tables are elegantly set with crisp white table cloths and well appointed waiters. We were welcomed and promptly seated and presented with three menus food with specials, a wine menu, and a vegetarian menu with a wide selection.of vegetarian choices. We were pleasantly surprised with bread dipping oil, olives, and pungent chunks of parmesan. We were quickly attended to, we placed our order and all questions were answered promptly. Our wine of choice The Primitivo arrived quickly and was presented professionally. The Enasalada Caprese ( tomatoes, basil and mozzarella) arrived promptly. The mozzarella was fresh and creamy. We received our pasta dishes and the the wine paired with them perfectly. The pasta was served hot. The Maccheronni pasta with a truffle cream sauce and porcini mushrooms was divine. The pasta was not to chewy or soft and the sauce adhered perfectly to it. The mushrooms were like velvet and you could smell the aroma of tartufo across the table. I took several bites of my spouse's Ravioli. The Ravioli with Sausage, beef, and pork was tender and well ground. The tomato sauce was bright and flavorful with the right amount of Parmigiano cheese sprinkled on top. Our wine glasses and water were refilled regularly and we were not hurried through our meal. I wish I had room for a second course, pizza ,or dessert all looked delicious. We opted for an authentic glass of lemoncello the perfect digestif for a lovely meal. We can't wait to come back on a Saturday for the piano player, or the Tuesday Tango dancing. Altogether a lovely peaceful meal on a Monday night with a busy but calm restaurant was appreciated. Remarks: Me and my boyfriend went here as recommended by the doctor friend of the owner and it didnt disappoint! The ambiance is just homy! LEO needs a raise as he's extremely accommodating and helped me decide what to order and even handed complimentary biscuits and limoncello! Its olive oil in cheese with toasted bread as complimentary starter is already to die for! We ordered: Appetizer Bruschette condite con pomodoro e basilico & Prosciutto Crudo

The cold cuts are just perfect amount of savoury that compliments the fruit! While the bruschette is just salivating! Its tomatoes are just fresh!!!

Mains: Tagliatelle alla crema di tartufo (meatballs on the side as requested and even handed a special sauce (i think it's truffle!) Ravioli Carne al burro e salvia

Ravioli was the one Leo recommended when i mentioned i wanted it meaty with tomato sayce and UGH didnt disappoint! While my partner ordered the other one. ITS PERFECT!

Dessert Crème Brulée Tartufo Classico

And of course both dessert didnt disappoint although I must say it's by preference! One might love the other one more but for me as a sweet tooth it's just perfect (again!)

Overall, this just made me feel I'm all over back in Europe but to be quite frank it's Sooooo worth its value!! I think our bill was around 6,000 and it's a full course...

The Lunch Service was horrid, Caruso has been our "go to" when it comes to client lunch and dinner meetings, we've had three instances that we have been treated quite disgustingly by this girl on the lunch service, she takes care of reservations and the like, we did an advance order as timing is of much importance, none of it was done to top it all off she made us feel like we owed her for our reservation as if it was a privilege for us to be accommodated, to add insult to injury our executives and valued guests mentioned that servers are being loud and chatting among themselves in the middle of service and the same girl (unfortunately she never really gives her name) made a face when we called their attention. I don't think that's the kind of service you would expect for an almost P20,000 tab...actually no matter what the bill you have that's not how you treat guests, specially your regulars. We are happy to take our business somewhere else. This used to be a very nice restaurant but I'm afraid the service and staff's attitude had fallen into such disrepair.
