Aficionado — Restaurant in Lagos

Strange little bar. Not totally sure what to make of it.

The patio was pretty full, but not great ambiance. Inside was almost empty, except for us and a middle-aged couple. Part of the interior is like pitch dark. As if all the light bulbs were dead. You have to walk through this dark room to get to the bar area, which is nicer and slightly better lit.

Bartenders were friendly and busy.

Music was mostly 70s and 80s pop, it seemed. Lots of ABBA. Not really my vibe but the older couple was enjoying it immensely.

Cocktails weren't bad, and unlike many places, they actually know what they're doing (no silly things. Just an honest old-fashioned). Not the most sophisticated drinks, and lean to the sweeter side, but good for people on holidays. They seemed a bit expensive than I would expect for that sort of...

I was looking for a nice place with music and cocktails. I saw the bar, really nice music was playing and was an empty table outside and I sat there. The guy from the service came and asked me how many people will be there. I told him that I am alone. Then he told me that is not allowed only one person to sit outside????????? What exactly happened, I couldn't believe it. I still ordered some cocktail and a snack. But my smile gone, I was so angry, disappointed... I never experienced something like that. Ordered a drink and went to play cards but as soon as we started playing was told it’s not possible. I asked to cancel the drink order but was told it’s too late. The staff who served me were nice but I just think it’s stupid you can’t play cards - I appreciate it’s not their doing but would have ordered more if we could have. Besides it was 5pm on a Monday not exactly gonna get bevy on a school night playing Yahtzee. We also had to ask for the bill numerous times to no avail. Looking now I can see many low rated comments about card games, I think the manager might need to revisit their rule otherwise their rating gonna...
