Our first attempt to visit Buteo failed as they were closed on the Sunday because they sold out on Saturday....a great problem to have in the restaurant industry. After we sat down we found out they were out of tuna 😔 😟 but we stayed and were very pleased with our selections. The goat cheese with port drunken pear, piri piri prawns and the piri piri chicken were all excellent. We chatted with one of the owners and she advised us to either call and reserve or come early on their seafood market days to ensure we could sample the tuna. Be sure to reserve during peak season because even in January&February they fill up fast. We have and will return to Buteo 😋

Absolutely amazing experience at this relatively new restaurant. We were enticed by the great reviews and weren’t disappointed. Mike was our server. He was excellent. He made great recommendations, and we loved all of them. Friendly, funny, attentive service. All the food was great, but the two best highlights were the pork cheeks (main) and cod cakes (appetizer). The green sangria came recommended from both Mike and one of the owners. We were hesitant, but trusted their reco in the end. It was great! We’re only here for a week, and we’ll likely eat there again knowing that we will have a guaranteed great experience.

Coming here for our last dinner in Portugal was the best decision ever! The service was excellent, and the food was amazing. The Iberian slow cooked pork cheeks on mashed potatoes were FIRE as the youths might say lol, so incredible and melt-in-your mouth tender. The piri piri grilled chicken was also soooo delicious and tender as well! Very generous portions, we felt like we didn’t even need the hummus appetizer after all (even though we also inhaled all of it haha). Would 100% return again and try even more dishes. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

If you want an authentic dining experience, do yourself a favour and visit Buteo Kitchen & Bar. My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant at 9:45 pm on a Monday, and the restaurant was packed. Even though they closed at 10 pm, the staff welcomed us into the restaurant with genuine smiles. The food, staff and atmosphere were friendly, authentic, and exactly what you are looking for from a restaurant. Expect well-executed food without any unnecessary frills. The decor follows the same ethos. The staff work in harmony to serve and craft an enjoyable atmosphere. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air, showing you that...
