A Merendinha do Arco Bandeira is an absolute gem in the heart of Lisbon! The food here is delicious and offered at a fantastic price point, especially considering the prime location and high quality of the dishes. The portions are generous, so you can be sure to leave completely satisfied.
I highly recommend the black pork barbeque with rice and beans—it was simply incredible! The rice and beans were my favorite part, bursting with flavor. My friends also enjoyed their meals, including fried pork, seafood, and fish, and they couldn’t stop raving about how good everything was.
The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating, and they have an easy-to-use website with an English menu that has great translations, making the ordering process a breeze. Despite its popularity with tourists, A Merendinha do Arco Bandeira is definitely not a tourist trap. It stays true to its quality and offers an authentic dining experience.
Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious and hearty meal in Lisbon. You won’t be...
Read moreWe loved everything about this local gem. Much like other amazing restaurants, they don’t do anything fancy - they start with fresh, local ingredients and let them shine through simple cooking.
The soup, which I think was a shrimp bisque, was full of flavour and just had croutons as garnish for additional texture. I’m pretty sure they grind the shells to get the maximum flavour and then sieve them out. Absolutely delicious!
Octopus salad was also one of the best we’ve had so far in the trip. Octopus was super tender and piled on with tons of olive oil and acid (I think it’s lemon juice) with other veggies.
But by far, my favourite was the grilled sardines. I think it’s their signature because almost every table got them. And it’s easy to see why. On the plate, are five grilled sardines and potatoes. The fish was so full of flavour, they didn’t need to do anything other than season them.
I would say all three are must tries. I would definitely be coming back when I’m back in Lisbon and you need to go eat there if you’re ever...
Read moreThis place is absolutely fantastic and is a must try when you’re in the area. It’s a small, cozy, family-style restaurant serving up simple but real good food. We came upon this restaurant randomly while trying to get out of the rain and were looking to grab some dinner.
We started off with the Caldo Verde and it was a nice start, a tad on the saltier side but very hearty and warming. I ordered the codfish cakes and it came with some salad and rice and beans. The meal looks simple, but it was comforting and delicious. The rice and beans are so good! Codfish cakes were fluffy and had an herby taste which was a lovely touch. The codfish cakes were only 10.90€ too which was an absolute steal for the quality and portion.
Server was friendly and there is an English menu, but also a QR code for you to see the images of the menu items. It is very accommodating for tourists. At the end of the meal, the server offered us some sherry as well.
Thank you for such a good meal...
