mediocre quality of food, rude service, and stuffy atmosphere. would not recommend this establishment.

my partner and i came in for an early dinner and was disappointed by the quality of the food, service, and ambiance. no one greeted us at the door or escorted us to our table; when asked if we could sit by the window, the owner dismissed that request saying it was reserved when there were more than five other open tables. when we took a sip of water from our bottle, she approached our table and scolded us for drinking our water, telling us that “we don’t do this in portugal.” it was unnecessary, disparaging, and left a poor taste in our mouth.

when the food arrived, we were further disappointed by the quality of the food. we got the fried rabbit, bread, octopus entree, green salad, and steak, all of which were overpriced for the area and mediocre at best. the fried rabbit was not tender but quite chewy and gamey. the octopus lacked any real seasoning. the steak was not hot to touch and was unpleasantly lukewarm. the side salad was comically for its size, quality, and lack of any seasoning.

We went here based solely on one review and we would go back in a heartbeat. This place is awesome! It's a bit on the expensive side, but absolutely worth it.

Five of us shared starters of croquettes and sheep cheese with spicy tomato jam. The latter comes wrapped in puff pastry and is superb. For the main course, two people had the lamb, one ordered the steak, another the pork and I had the octopus. Each dish beat our expectations. The lamb was flavorful and fell off the bone; the steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce was elegant; the pork was wonderfully seasoned: and my octopus was tender and, honestly, the best I have had.

Well priced wines were chosen for us and paired quite nicely with both courses. We didn't need dessert, but the options just drew us in. Each was exquisite: the decadent chocolate mousse; the beautiful almond cake; the appropriately named chocolate salame: and I can't remember the Portuguese name for the whipped egg whites with cream, but it was the perfect finish to a fabulous meal.
