CATAPLANA ( Uma Marisqueira) — Restaurant in Lisbon

As a foodie, I always make it a point to try traditional dishes whenever I visit a new place. After some Googling, I found that Cataplana is a must-try Portuguese dish. Curious and excited, I searched 'Cataplana near me' on Google Maps and stumbled upon this restaurant named Cataplana. With a name like that, I had high expectations: it had to be special, right?

And wow, it didn't disappoint! When my Cataplana arrived, it was beautifully presented, and the first bite exceeded all my expectations. The flavors were perfectly absorbed, rich, and well-balanced, no bland or plain bites at all. As someone who loves exploring local cuisines, I can confidently say this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had.

Beyond the amazing food, the service was outstanding. I was served by Anita, who was so nice and always had a warm smile. Before I left, Mr. Pradeep, the manager, personally asked me about my experience, which made me feel genuinely valued as a customer. I also noticed they treated other guests with the same warmth and attentiveness, such a welcoming place!

I took a peek at their menu, and there are so many other interesting dishes I wanna try. I’ll definitely be coming back soon to explore more of their offerings. Can’t wait!

I don’t know how this restaurant has 4.8 stars this has by far been the worst restaurant we’ve eaten at in our 10 day stay in Portugal. The white sangria is watered down and has little to no alcohol. We ordered the tapas charcuterie plate for two and it was below average. We also ordered the four cheese pizza and it tasted horrendous. This pizza tasted like literal vomit. Like when you have too much to drink and you throw up and now you have that taste lingering in your mouth all night. It was so bad that we had to get a gelato somewhere else after and after eating a gelato, we still have that vomit taste lingering in our mouths.

When it came to the service, it was subpar. I made a reservation, thinking it was an upscale restaurant due to the pictures provided on Google, but when we arrived, the inside of the restaurant was empty, but the outside patio area was full. Perhaps it was to attract more customers. When I told them I had a reservation, they didn’t even verify my name, to give you an idea of what type of place this is.

Lastly, when I paid for the check, our waiter came in really close to me and and said “Do you have a tip for me? Can I get a tip?“ I am not opposed to tipping, we have been tipping throughout this trip. However it seems a little rude to ask your...
