As a very cravery pregnant lady, I requested my husband to take me to Shanghai Garden in City Center as I wanted to eat Chinese seafood. However, Last night I had the utterly disgusting customer service ever and decided never to step back in this restaurant ever again.
We reached (all together 4 of us) at 9.30pm and a girl showed us a table and said it’s buffet and will be served to the table due to the current situation. So we were waiting for someone and then a another guy approached us and asked whether we have ordered we told him what girl said and he brought the menu card to pick the food we wanted. We took some selfies while sitting down and gave our order at one go it was before 10pm. They took sometime to serve us food but we didn’t utter a word seeing how busy the restaurant was.
However, we had to asked for drinks because it wasn’t served to us right at the beginning. Here comes the The best part is we did not received more than half of the food plates from the main course. We were waiting thinking that they would serve us but unfortunalty, when we asked from the waiter who served us “Wazeem” he said that food is over and buffet is closed. How funny is that. And he gave an excuse saying that it’s the fault of the lady infront as they were taking in customers without checking. Which is non of concerns but we didn’t tell him anything. When we checked out we spoke to the so called lady supervisor “Dandan” this is what she said her name is, we told our concern as per her manager was off. She spoke to us rudely saying it’s our fault for not ordering food on time and was “TAKING SELFIES” while she was trying to bill for 4 people. We couldn’t believe how poorly these waitresses are trained to talk and serve customers. Moreover, she added saying that “Wazeem” the waiter who served us told her that we were ordering food time to time pass 10.30pm where again we were falsely accused!!! I mean are they having a laugh or what!!!! Firstly, nobody told us that we can’t order food after 10.30pm which we didn’t do. And the best part is we called “Wazeem” and asked him the same infront this so called supervisor lady and he said we gave the order at one go before 10pm.. should have seen that lady’s red rude face through the mask!!! so what are they trying to gain by talking and accusing customers falsely. And she billed only for three people hahahahaha just to get away from her bad mouthing!!! We really DON’T care even if we had to pay for 10 people if none of the above happened!!!
Our night was ruined and and we will never ever visit this restaurant!! Shame on your poor management...
Read moreShanghai Garden is truly great value for money - approximately QAR 69-75 per person for the Chinese buffet depending on whether you eat lunch or dinner (dinner has more meat options). It is eat as much as you can, but obviously and respectfully no sharing. One may be seated for two hours maximum. The buffet offers ample, fresh Chinese cuisine with a large variety of fresh foods (soups, deserts, fruit, vegetables, salads, various meats, dumplings, sushi and so forth). The dumplings are really good which are freshly made on the spot. They furthermore offer fresh handmade noodles which are also made in their buffet section by a chef which offers a 'show' on freshly-made noodles. Other freshly made offerings include sushi, deep-fried crispy prawns, various noodle, rice, vegetable and meat dishes. They offer hot pots where you select fresh vegetables and meat to cook at your table. Most tables have two cooking plates for the hot pots which creates an interactive experience. It is truly great value for money and I am a regular as it is just such a great go-to. The restaurant is super clean and well taken care of with management keeping a close eye on the service and satisfaction of customers. The ambience feels like a Manga movie (I always feel like I am in "Spirited Away" by Studio Ghibli when I eat there especially with all the cooking and created atmosphere). We call it the Manga restaurant. The restaurant is also mainly supported by the expat Asian community. There is also a robot cat which will bring your food to your table :) Kids love it. There is ample underroof parking in the center, and for people traveling with the Metro, it is approximately 200 metres from City Center Mall (DECC Metro). It is very conveniently located inside the City Center Mall (next to Carrefour) and makes up a day of shopping...
Read moreMe and my fiancé, recently visited Shanghai Garden in City Center Qatar, and it was a delightful experience. The food taste and quality were impressive, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors. The highlight for me was the Tofu with mushroom soy sauce and vegetable hotpot, both of which were cooked to perfection.
The ambiance of the restaurant is quite inviting. It combines traditional Chinese elements with modern design, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.
The staff at Shanghai Garden were friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and efficient service. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations.
One of the standout features of Shanghai Garden is its menu, which offers a wide variety of options, including a good selection of vegan dishes. I was pleased to find several tasty and well-prepared vegan options that didn't compromise on flavor.
Overall, Shanghai Garden is a great place to enjoy high-quality Chinese cuisine in a pleasant setting. While it's not the cheapest option in town, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it worth the visit. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal in City...
