Definitely not a place to go after 8.30pm if you would like decent service. It’s appalling!
Was looking for a good Korean BBQ joint and decided on this due to the numerous rave reviews. It was a bit past 9pm and a staff member informed us that the restaurant would be closing at 10pm before showing us in and taking our order. The time did not bother us as we knew would be done in less than an hour.
Not long after, I noticed a staff member come and gestured to the couple at the next table asking them to remove the few pieces of meat left on the grill which they had yet to finish so he could take away the pot with the charcoal. I thought it was rather rude. Before 9.30pm, the couple asked for a refill of kimchi and was told the kitchen was closed. No word of apology! Moments later, my husband asked for more lettuce and perilla leaves and also kimchi. The same staff again said the kitchen was closed a matter of factly. I found it ridiculous that they were not going to provide the sides that ran out when we were barely 1/3 through our food. I asked for the staff who showed us in and made our request to him instead , ready for a few sharp words if he had the cheek to also tell us the kitchen was closed. To his credit, he just nodded and gave instructions for the sides to be refilled. They came soon after. Imagine the indignance of the couple who was looking on!
Minutes later, with a few more pieces of meat left to go, the staff who was apparently in charge of removing all the pots of charcoal came and again gestured for us to remove the meat from the grill!!
The staff were in such a great hurry to close shop and go home that all effort to provide good service was just thrown out of the window! I have to add that we are all foreigners. Makes me wonder if it would have been different if we were locals.
Now, I have given a review and posted a pic as all guests are encouraged to. As for the free side promised, no thank you! Review your end of day closing...
Read moreWent in here for lunch today -- the staff was kind, but sort of nonchalant. The food was expensive, but great quality.
The problem I had is as follows: we were waiting to be seated since the restaurant was full today and another couple from Hong Kong was waiting beside us. They then started arguing very loudly for 10 minutes and the woman started literally hitting the man in the face and beating up on him right next to me. He fell onto me and I asked them to calm down -- she literally started yelling and threatening me while still beating up on her boyfriend. I had to get up and assert myself as I felt completely unsafe.
The staff saw the whole thing play out through the glass door of the restaurant for at least 20 minutes and only stepped in when they saw me get up. Even when they did, the couple continued to argue and physically fight. I was appalled when 30 minutes in total had passed by and no one did anything. I felt they should've been kicked out of the establishment. They were clearly disturbing customers who were coming in (who had reservations) and disturbing us as well with all of their physical fighting.
When we were finally seated, I noticed that the couple was seated too -- and they literally kept arguing LOUDLY for SEVERAL MINUTES until the man finally left the restaurant in anger.
While I am aware that this isn't the restaurant's fault, I feel as though they needed to assert themselves and turn these customers away for disturbing others. I didn't like how it was handled and even though this was an isolated event, I...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Wangnijib MeyongDong 2nd store, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic meal. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Korean beef. Each cut was perfectly marbled and cooked to perfection right at our table. The flavors were rich and savory, making every bite a delight. The quality of the beef was top-notch, and it truly melted in our mouths. But the experience didn’t stop there. The array of side dishes (banchan) was equally impressive. From the crisp and tangy kimchi to the refreshing cucumber salad, each side dish complemented the main course beautifully. The variety and freshness of the banchan added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who were more than happy to explain the different cuts of meat and recommend the best cooking techniques. Their friendliness and expertise made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Wangnijib MeyongDong 2nd store is a must-visit for anyone who loves Korean barbecue. The combination of high-quality beef, delicious side dishes, and excellent service makes it a standout choice. I can’t wait to return and indulge in more of their...
