After reading the reviews we were excited to visit. Our friends live in Tenerife and own a bar locally and they had booked us a table for 4. The American lady was nice and friendly and I have to say doing the lions share of the work. But for our whole time there we were made to feel like we'd done something wrong..... Last to be taken an order from long long wait for drinks and definitely a long wait for our food. There had been a turnaround on the table next to us three times before our food was served. 25 mins for our first drink to arrive (after ordering) It was uncomfortable as we felt like we had to keep asking and was being ignored. Shame really. We weren't in a rush, however an hour and a half before food service was slightly pushing the patience. We remained polite as we should, but the man who was floating around was quiet rude and tutting if we asked for anything. Sorry GP, but being all of us are in hospitality this kind of service is not acceptable. Then the lights went out and one of the staff said that's it guys shows over.... So we hurried our drinks, only to be told that water and steam gets in the electric sockets in the kitchen and blows the lights and they were only joking. Well, that's not ok in so many ways. On a positive three out of 4 of our table loved their food and the only reason I didn't was because I tried something I'd never had before and it wasn't to my taste that's not saying there was anything wrong with it, just not my pallet. Sausages were amazing my husband said and my friend said her pulled pork was amazing. So well done chef. We all get off nights I get that but we really felt unwanted and uncomfortable. Sorry guys I do hate to slap a negative on you but the tall things man...
Read moreWe ate here twice during our holiday and had two quite different experiences. On our first visit, our table was booked for 7.30. We had a lovely meal and I was impressed with the gluten-free menu. The gluten-free dessert was one of the nicest I'd had during the holiday. For our second visit, we could only get a table booked for 9.30pm but we said it would be worth the wait. We were wrong. When we ordered starters, we were told that they would be served along with the main meal due to the fact that the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes. Then I was told that my meal was sold out, so I had to order something else. I had also ordered an extra portion of slaw and the waiter said 'ok', but didn't write it down, and sure enough it never came. One of the starters also never arrived, but it was on our bill, so I had to ask for it to be removed. Our burgers were not particularly nice, nor were the chips. It felt like it had all been rushed through because they just wanted to close up for the night. The waiter did not make us feel welcome at all, in fact we felt like we were a nuisance for being there too late, to the point where we all agreed not to bother ordering dessert. So I would advise you to book well in advance to get an earlier table, as it really felt like things go downhill towards the end...
Read moreIt was our first time in Tenerife, and on one of the first days we walked past The Ginger Pig. The place instantly caught our eye — partly because we’re both into marketing and design, and also because, let’s be honest, a lot of places here look… let’s just say unusual. This one stood out right away.
We popped in just for drinks at first. I’m a classic Czech beer guy, so I was sorted. But my girlfriend? She’s all about wine or cider — and the moment she saw Strongbow on tap, she was parked at the bar with a big smile.
The service was what really made the night. The first time, we were greeted by an Irish guy (ginger down to his socks), and from the moment he opened his mouth we knew we’d be back before flying home.
Today we finally made it happen — came hungry, ready to demolish something outrageous. And wow. The food? Absolutely fantastic. The service? Just as brilliant — today it was a guy with a mustache and beard who kept us laughing the whole time.
I was about to write that the staff were even better than the food… but honestly, both were top-notch. Huge thanks for all the effort, sweat, and love you put into this place. You’ve built something truly special. We’re grateful...
