FrescCo Buffet Lliure — Restaurant in Barcelona

What I like the most about this place is the great selection of fresh vegetables, so you can make your own salad!

Here is how it works: you enter the restaurant, you pickup a plate together with your tray, and then you proceed to make your dish - at the entrance you have choice of several soups and variety of fresh vegetables. Kudos for including some seeds which will enhance greatly the taste of your salad. You also can dress/season with salt and pepper, some dried herbs, olive oil, variety of vinegar, and some ready-made sauces. You can skip choosing a beverage but I always go with a cola since you have the choice to enhance it with some lemon/lime slices and ice - tastes much better. Depending on your choice of beverage you pay something around 9.95EUR on weekdays (beware that on weekends the price increase to 12.95EUR!). For 1EUR additional you can get also some grill but I don't recommend it - I tried several times but the meat/fish wasn't good. Anyway, in the hot meals section there are plenty of some very good pizzas with good amount of cheese and aromatic herbs, some pasta, also there is always some sort of meet that is included in the price that you already paid - ribs or some chicken. You can eat as much as you can, and I wish this could be true also for the veggies - I am not quite sure if it is allowed to go back before cashier and create your second salad, if you wish so. In any case, there is plenty of food.

Did I mention the coffee? I was pleasantly surprised how good it is. I don't know which is the brand - is it an expensive or not - but the coffee is really, really good. Must try it if you a espresso lover. There are also some desserts - cakes, puddings, ice cream and etc. - but usually I don't reach for them. However, the fruit salad is a great addition!

If you are tourist save your money by avoiding overpriced restaurants in the area. Also, mostly important, save your health by avoiding the junk food if you are on a budget. I think FresCo restaurants meet the sweet spot by providing healthy food at a reasonable price. I highly...

I must say that I have mixed feeling. Slightly disappointed, because my friends told me all about how this chain is awesome and how you can eat good and cheap here. But they used to come to this restaurants before Covid and, as long as I see, some rules have changed since then. For example, now, with a basic price you can barely get any meat and no beer or vine. It’s also a pity that after you pay for the basic price, you can’t pay extra and get those “goods” When we came there, we were expected to get some sorta instructions on what we should pay for, what to expect and if we should pay more. The girl said that we can pay more for extra meat. Like, if we want a big steak, apart from a standard menu. So this was a confusion And when we came there, there were some salads to choose from, sure. The salads were fine, pretty fresh and the quality of the products was nice. But there was only one soup, not even two to choose from When we came there, with our “basic package” we managed to take only sausages. Even tho they were pretty tasty. It was not enough sausages for everyone and for some time the section with hot dishes remained almost empty. Only when we washed our hands after the food, we saw that staff decided to put more dishes, like chicken and potatoes. I took a picture, so you can see it. It’s just a pity that no one told us that more dishes will appear shortly And dessert section is a bit depressing. Because you have no choice there, some old fruits, baked apple as and banana bread Overall I’d was ok, but due to reasons that I explained, I can’t rate it higher The location is pretty decent, because it’s a heart of Barcelona and they must have a lot of people coming there...

Lo bueno de viajar es que, además de ver otros lugares, comes en otros lugares. Nunca había estado en un buffet con tan poca variedad, tanto de comida (fría y caliente), como de postres. Pagar el suplemento tampoco merece la pena, porque mientras en otros buffet libre (no en Barcelona, que yo sepa, porque es el único al que fui en la ciudad) te dejan encargar varias veces que te hagan comida caliente, aquí es una vez por persona. Pagar 2 euros más para tener que elegir la comida que te hacen ellos en el momento, como digo, no merece la pena. Luego llegan los postres, y quitando el detalle de que la máquina de helados está estropeada (puede pasar), el resto es fruta natural, fruta picada (macedonia, para echarle sirope, que también hay) y bizcocho (supongo que para el café, ya que también tienen máquina para que te hagas). En otros buffet he visto neveras con yogures de todo tipo (desde sabores, hasta cuajadas y tartas, todo de mucha variedad), además de congeladores de helados y mucho más. Fui a preguntar si había más postres (porque realmente me pareció ridículo) y el chico de la barra me dijo dos veces: "no, señor, eso es lo que hay". Luego de decirlo trajeron una especie de postre en un baso que sabía a maracuyá, melocotón o algo así, que a mí personalmente no me gustó y se lo di a mi padre (aunque eso es más personal, porque esos sabores no me gustan, aunque olía muy bien). En resumen: buen ambiente y trato del personal, pero no creo que volviera por la escasa variedad de comida y, si volviera, no pagaría el suplemento de dos euros. Mis padres pidieron pez espada y pollo, y yo una hamburguesa. Pagar dos euros cada uno, teniendo en cuenta que en el supermercado un envase entero de filetes de pollo, o rodajas de pez espada, cuestan unos 4,5 o 6 euros según el peso, creo que no merece mucho la pena. Si dejaran repetir sería otra historia. Además, lo que pedimos estaba un poco salado de más. Y deberían preguntar el punto de lo que van a hacer (que a mí no me preguntaron). La suerte que tengo es que me gusta la comida hecha, con lo que me gustó la hamburguesa (y lo demás, que también lo probé aunque, como digo, un poco saldado). Lo de los postres, decepcionante. Y como digo, les falta variedad. Por último, dejo un consejo: en todos los restaurantes tienen algo que destaca y por lo que se le recuerda. A mí no se me ocurre nada con lo que recordar este sitio, en lo que a comida se refiere. Puede ser que sea la fideuá, pero como desapareció un rato (tardaron en reponerlo) y luego había mucha cola, no llegué a probarla. Y sobre la ensaladilla rusa, aunque no sé si la hacen así, parecía que era de estas congeladas que habían dejado descongelar, y le habían echado mayonesa. La patata...
