I enjoyed the visit. The prices weren't as high as I expected. There are different restaurants and you also have a common area to sit inside and outside. You can also enjoy the views and see Plaza Callao from up there. The windows, like the Eiffle Tower, indicate where the monuments are and the distance.

I ordered a Burger for the burger place, they have a very interesting menu, however they mixed up the orders, had not added any of the goodies that said on the menu, had runout of rugula and did not even mention it. The sauce was also not added and even the buns we chose were not correct. When the lady helping us (very nice ladies) told the guy in the kitchen he got mad and started handling out food with anger. He left the top bun of sesame and the buttom bun brioche. The buttom bun was way bigger and the meat was smaller. I think he was having a bad day....

This place is Spain’s answer to Eataly. It’s on the roof of this fabulous department store where you can shop for gourmet food items and choose from about 10 different little restaurants with their own specialties. I went to the one with different meats. For an appetizer I had croquettes with 3 different flavours. All were excellent. My lean cut of beef was cooked medium rare to perfection and finished with fleur de sel and came with roast potatoes. I drank an excellent rioja to go with this meal.

For dessert I moved to the gelato place and had mango and limone gelato. So flavourful!

Before I left, I caught the beautiful sunset over Madrid from the outdoor rooftop eating area. Beautiful! This place was full of people of all ages...

The Gourmet Experience Gran Via takes the whole of the ninth floor of El Corte Ingles situated on Pl. del Callao Centro. You can take a lift directly to the floor and avoid all the other shopping floor. There are bathrooms on the right as you come out of the lifts. There are so many food and drink providers including famous chocolatiers, meat curlers, wine merchants etc. towards the end of the floor there are restaurants and bars. There is an outdoor section and windowed area which gives panoramic views of the western part of the city. On the windows there are outline of some of the buildings which are labeled. A great place to go.
