During my recent business trip to Madrid, I had the pleasure of dining at Izariya on my final evening. I opted for the Omakase set menu and I was absolutely delighted with my choice. The restaurant's atmosphere and ambience were nice, and the chefs and staff were all incredibly friendly and hospitable. The service was impeccable. In terms of the food, I feel it was among the best Japanese cuisine I've experienced in Europe. Even the wasabi and gari were very delicate. I don't want to disclose too many details of the dishes, so as not to spoil the dining experience for other customers. But I have to say Izariya is really good at using lemon and ponzu, which added a refreshing note to many of the dishes. I guess you would enjoy it if you like citrus. I would like to come back if I have the chance to visit Madrid again. Or perhaps visit a new Izariya location if one were to...

Original and authentic Japanese offerings at Izariya - a small group with most restaurants actually located in Japan. The space is compact and has few private booths and a bar - only 23 sittings in total per service. The food is not the sort you'll find in a trendy Japanese or fusion restaurant, but actually more of a home cooked, cosy style with good quality ingredients. The tempura dishes, particulary the hake cheeks and asparagus - were super tasty, and the sushi board with a flight of well combined incremental flavours was a delight. We opted for the 70€ taster menu and added in a cheeky godello wine which made for a nice combo. Service was professional and efficient. Go with the pretense of eating a good meal - no singing, dancing or fireworks, just good...

Calidad y servicio excelentes. Una gran experiencia.

I suppose the restaurant focuses on sushi and sashimi to appeal to the local preference, but I expected Kaiseki and was dissapointed. The lunch tasted fine but not fantastic either. I would have given three stars but the ‘green tea icecream’ they served me was the worst icecream I have yet tasted. It had a very wrong texture, watery ice flakes with green tea leaves in it…. Very odd. Friendly service though. I paid 31€ for lunch and water.
