food was great and really tasty presentation of food and drinks

service was rude and not helpful therefore the whole experience was bit too expensive

I asked to have a non alcoholic cocktail. The problem was that the two drinks they offered were either not vegan or had ingredients in it i don't like. I tried to ask for one cocktail either leaving out the non-vegan ingredient or having an alcoholic cocktail replaced with the non-alcoholic spirit. Neither of those options were possible. Which is super disappointing for a restaurant/ bar who advertises it's good cocktails. This gave me the impression that either people responsible for the bar value their cocktail recipe over their customer or are just not able to adapt a recipe slightly. Service wasn't really helpful with that process so at the end i stayed with water because i didn't want to discuss this further... Because of this experience i wouldn't come back for a meal, just the good food alone doesn't justify the high...

A perfect way to celebrate my 50th. We booked the flying dinner for a group of 30 and had half of the restaurant as our private area. Julian was amazing and helped us to plan the party. They created 2 signature cocktail for us for the night with a welcome candyfloss prosecco with syrup in test tubes. We had a flying dinner giving everyone the chance to mingle and then sit down later if we wanted to. The food was superb and plentiful with many small dishes which could be eaten with fingers or with tweezers.

The food, cocktails and the venue were superb. All of my guests have been in touch today to say how much they enjoyed the evening. The ambience was cosy and comfortable with amazing decor and lots of fun to be had with the theatre of the drinks and food.

Update 2: Ich war mal wieder da, und diesmal bin ich voller Lob!

Look & Feel: Die Sessel sind sehr bequem, das Licht angenehm gedämpft, die Wände haben eben den "Alchemist-Style". Insgesamt hat man Wert darauf gelegt, eine stimmige Atmosphäre zu schaffen, ohne zuviel Schnickschnack oder Deko zu platzieren.

Hygiene: Ein wichtiges Thema, und erfreulicherweise tadellos. Zertifikat-Check und ausreichend Abstände (zumindest wurden wir so gesetzt); Desinfektionsmittel ausreichend vorhanden. (Normalerweise ist dieser Punkt kein Bestandteil meiner Reviews, aber momentan doch wichtig.)

Preis-Leistung: Für das gebotene (siehe unten) und Basel sogar eher günstig! Ich war sehr überrascht. Sehr faire Preise.

Gästebetreuung: Absolut Top. Höflich, Mehrsprachig, die richtigen Fragen gestellt (Allergien?), bei der Entscheidungsfindung geholfen, sehr freundlich, regelmäßig nochmal vorbeigekommen, um zu fragen, ob man noch etwas braucht oder möchte, aber ohne penetrant zu sein - Sehr gut! Großes Lob und Respekt an die Bedienungen. Die anderen Bars in Basel können sich gerne eine Scheibe vom Service abschneiden!

Getränke/Snacks: Sowohl Getränke als auch Snacks machen durchaus Sinn. Die Karte ist nicht überfüllt; es ist sehr spannend, sich die verschiedenen Ingredienzien erklären zu lassen - manche Drinks sind darauf ausgelegt, selbst am Tisch gemixt zu werden. Die Geschmacksnoten passen sehr gut zueinander. Auch für Vegetarier gibt es definitiv genug.

Gibt es denn gar nichts negatives? Naja, die Pilze im Hibiskus-Bierteig frittiert waren etwas weicher als das andere Gemüse. Sehr lecker, aber etwas weicher - ich nehme an, das liegt daran, dass Pilze viel Wasser enthalten, dadurch die Panade aufweicht. Das ist aber mäkeln auf "mimimi" - Niveau, und rechtfertigt keinesfalls einen Sternabzug oder ähnliches, abgesehen davon war es trotzdem lecker.

FAZIT Die Alchemist-Bar ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, und man hat die vernünftige Entscheidung getroffen, sich auf verhältnismäßig wenige, dafür aber hochwertige und saisonale Speisen und Getränke mit frischen Zutaten zu konzentrieren. Die Bar ist eine Date-Night-Empfehlung, angenehm, spannend, mit hervorragendem Personal, und eine willkommene Abwechslung und ein Pluspunkt für Basel. Auf jeden Fall ausprobieren -...
