I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The schnitzel tasted simply delicious. I also tried the apple ring dessert, and it was so good I finished it in seconds. Even the coffee stood out; it was so rich and flavorful, I felt like I’d been transported to Italy for a moment.
The atmosphere is another highlight. I really appreciated the old rustic charm, which made for a peaceful and cozy Sunday lunch. It wasn’t crowded when I visited, but I’d recommend reserving a table just in case—larger groups do come here, and it might be harder to find a spot sometimes.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. After my meal, I stayed at my table for a while to relax, and the waiters were kind enough not to rush me or make me feel like I had to leave.
If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add some sauerkraut, bratwurst, and knödel to the menu. I know it’s not part of the local cuisine, but it would’ve been a great addition and something I’d personally love to eat.

Read moreOur dining experience at Gifthüttli was spectacular. This charming restaurant, specializing in traditional Swiss cuisine, offers numerous dishes and many, many gluten-free options. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles into this cozy restaurant located near the Marktplatz. The decor reflected the essence of old Swiss, with rustic wooden, soft lighting, and tasteful alpine accents. The staff were incredibly attentive and guided us through the menu.
We were delighted to see a significant number of gluten-free options available for my wife who thoroughly enjoyed the weinerschnitzel. The schnitzel was tender and flavorful. My veal cordon bleu was excellent and prepared with a generous amount of cheese. Both of our dishes were very large in their size. I also had traditional Swiss rösti (hash browns) which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is an excellent place to eat local cuisine and feel immersed into the...
Read moreWe decided to have dinner there last month, without booking in advance. It was a nicely warm evening (though with the risk of rain showers), and we very much wanted to sit on the terrace. The only table the waiter could offer us, however, was not covered by the awning, and less than 10 minutes into our stay, the first drops started to fall. However, the waiter swiftly informed us of another (covered) table that had just been vacated, and proceeded to relocate us there, so we were safe from the rain for the rest of the evening. Very good and attentive service, and I loved the food. I ordered the Classic Gordon Bleu, but there are other interesting Gordon Bleu options as well. As it seems a popular place (and I can obviously see why!), I would probably recommend to book in advance, especially when wanting to sit on the terrace, to avoid disappointment, as not everyone may be as lucky as us...
