Bamboo — Restaurant in Interlaken

Avoid. I’m Chinese and this was the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to in 50+ years. Awful food, poor service, and way overpriced. Shrimp dumplings didn’t come out for 30 minutes and tasted awful. Nothing in them resembled shrimp. I had to spit it out because it was inedible. Waitress said it was the way the Swiss like it. Really?!? How about making it the way Chinese people expect their food to taste and let authenticity prevail? Crispy duck was too dry and portions too small. Ginger beef was bland. The Singapore noodles with shrimp had the tiniest shrimp in them - nearly all noodles with sprinkles of super-tiny shrimp. Waitress never asked for our drink order until I reminded her we needed to order drinks. Asked a guy for chopsticks and he simply forgot. Had to ask someone else. Seems like a tourist trap. Bambo at Interlaken Visited on 13/9/2019

The tour guide took our group to this gem in Interlaken. The deco did look Chinese, with red lanterns hanging from the eves and ceiling, and the front entrace was guided by two sculptured lions in the traditional Chinese style on both sides.

Unlike many Chinese restaurants, it had a very extensive menu ranging from southeast Asian flavour to some Chinese regional foods. I could not believe it include simple tossed vegetables, steamed fish, scrambled egg with tomato, curry lamb, Peking duck, Szechuan spicy duck, etc.

Our tour guide ordered the dishes, keeping in mind a mixture of food preferences, and therefore kept to not so spicy dishes. I could only judge the quality and the way these dishes were cooked, and I scored them average.

We travel all along from Germany to Interlaken..

We made a reservation at 18.30 but because traffic we arrived late around 20.00 and they accepted us and arranged the table for us again..

We order fried noodle , fried chicken with sweet and sour , duck with vegetables , and many more I cant remember..

The made lot of additions orders but the staff try to keep up and serve the foods in a good pace..

The restaurant itself have a great location, they can speak English..
