Hüsi Bierhaus — Restaurant in Interlaken

My father and I came here for dinner. We were eating there and also making a to go order for my cousin. We placed our order to stay with one waiter who seemed annoyed by our lack of speaking German and asking to speak English. I obviously can't prove that but that is what it truly felt like. After thirtyish minutes of waiting we decided to order our to go order with a second waiter as it was taking long for our main order and we didn't want to have to wait that much longer. Twenty minutes later my father went to talk to one of the waiters and then the second quiet came to the table and told us that it had only been twenty minutes since we put in the order, essentially calling us liars and impatient, and said it would only be 5 to 8 minutes longer. We knew there was something wrong as we had been there much longer, but we waited another 10 minutes before another table who came after us, and happened to speak German, got their meal. It was at that point that we asked for the check. The manager, or so it seemed to be, came out with the to go order and thought that we were only waiting for that. We explained that we had also order food for us that never came. He said that nothing else was put in, and said he hadn't talked to the first waiter. My dad thinks that it was a stupid mistake but I am steadfast in thinking that the original waiter didn't put it in on purpose. The first waiter walked past us every couple minutes and never ask us how we were doing our to say why it was taking so long. It's because of this that I think it was done in purpose, otherwise the first waiter would have at least checked on us. The reason I'm giving two stars is because the manager was nice, comped a drink and apologized. Also I just ate some Indian food and feel a little bit better. While passing a busy restaurant, we thought it might be good for dinner and decided to try it the next day. A waitress seated our party of five at a bar table meant for 2-4 people, which couldn’t fit us. When I asked her about it, she pointed to another table and said, "There's a chair," with poor attitude and broken English.

We assumed it was a language issue, not bias against us as Asians, and took chairs from the table. But a few minutes later, she came back and told us loudly we couldn’t use them because the other table was reserved. She then spoke in Dutch to nearby customers, who stared at us.

First, she didn’t seat us properly. Second, she told us to take the chairs, then accused us of doing it. When we ordered our food, the table wasn’t big enough, so we requested to move outside. When we asked to open the cantilever umbrella above the table, she said it was only for the sun, not rain, and pointed out another group of Asians who had "opened it themselves." But as soon as it drizzled, she ran to open the umbrellas. So they ARE for the sun.

Despite the good food, the poor service made our experience uncomfortable. We won’t be returning. It's surprising how a shop, frequented mostly by Asians and tourists, manages to survive with such a discriminatory(Racist) attitude. I do not recommend...

Atrocious service.. Came a day before asked if we can reserve a table the answer was ‘no’ which was absolutely understood by us. Came next day have been told to wait for the table around 1h which is equally understood but then noticed that few tables were reserved. Waiter said he will not confirm why. He literally said that with a grumpy ‘not your business face’. Ok… we have waited and then have been offered the table that was reserved initially but the people didnt come. I’ve said jokingly that you should have reserve that place for us then lady said ‘you should be happy you have a place to eat’. Yes... Regretting for not leaving back then but as we were hungry and waited already a while so we have stayed. Ordered bier wurst, very spicy with metal elements on the wurst which we were not warned about - neither the heat level or the METAL parts.. Potato mash was undercooked which was ignored by waiter after telling him that.. They just don’t care.. It is a popular place and constant turnover so yes.. why would they.. This place is definitely a mixed bag.. Expected 4.5 star experience and literally got one of the worst...
