Our experience at Minari was truly subpar, underwhelming, and truthfully, misleading. We found Minari through its excellent rating on google and proximity to our location. The reviews were relatively positive, but after further investigation, they seem to be written from the staff and create a facade of the true atmosphere of this “restaurant.” Our experience at Minari was by far the zenith of failure, true disappointment, and a complete lack of attention to its customers. We started our order by clearly explaining our allergies and enunciating on the implications the allergens may hold to the safety of our lives, perchance. The server agreed to ask the chef and double check the ingredients for our safety. However, when the food came back we were astonished to see sesame seeds strewn across the food, something that we clearly explained was a severe allergy. We returned the food and asked kindly asked again for the food without these allergens in our proximity. They agreed to understand our concerns and we went through this exact process for several rounds. At long last, until around five of the servers and staff learned about our allergies, we had enough. My father, completely astonished by the lack of regard for our safety, and the negligence exhibited by the staff, had summoned one of the staff (who has short hair), and expressed his concerns. He explained that he was completely willing to pay even after this many mistakes by the staff, and that we would just like to make clear the severity of their actions. After my father’s lecture, the server with short hair briefly apologized (insincerely), and exclaimed that, “all I can do I apologize.” After giving us the check, we noticed that he had no empathy for our inconvenience and still charged us full price of 120 francs with no discount on our still-full plates of food with sesame seeds on it. We are truly flabbergasted at the lack of morality this restaurant has shown and urge fellow locals and tourists to avoid this restaurant at all...
Read moreOkay, I seriously have to give props to this place for being fully authentic. There aren't a lot of places out there that do that anymore, and I 100% appreciate it.
My girlfriend and I ordered Bibimbap and cold noodles. The Bibimbap was awesome. A good blend of different ingredients, nice and hot, and easy to mix. Tasted great, too. As for the cold noodles - this dish single-handedly made me a big fan of korean food. Not only did it help cool me down after a hot day, it was also absolutely delicious.
I never had Korean beer before, so I took the chance when I saw it. Korean Pale Ale - not bad at all! Nice and hoppy, with a slightly fruity bite to it. Good stuff.
Our dessert was a Korean fruit which name I missed, but which taste I enjoyed. It's not too sweet like some other fruit desserts, but it was cold and hit the spot just right for a warm summer's day.
Lastly, I have to mention the staff. It's obvious from the get-go that they really care, and their attitude is one of the friendliest I've seen in any restaurant. They were very kind and helpful, so kudos to you guys!
All in all, I really enjoyed the food here and would highly recommend Minari to pretty much everyone else! Will definitely be coming back here next time I'm in...
Read moreSadly this was the worst "japchae" I ever had :( anyone who has had decent korean food knows that it's not supposed to be hot and liquidy. This dish is supposed to be chewy and taste sweet but it was salty, blant and watery. You could not even grab it with the chopsticks. They probably just stirfried this dish with some frozen vegetables and a lot of soysauce...when we mentioned this to the server he said we need to order something else and he can't do anything. When I kindly asked if he could please ask in the kitchen he said no. Thankfully the owner (I think) asked us again if everything was alright and we mentioned the dish and she gave us 50% discount and said she will tell the cook. The naengmyeon were alright but not very good either. We asked for some gochujang to spice it up. Honestly if I could only rate the food it...
