Schäferstube in Zermatt is a gem that delivers not only outstanding cuisine but also an unforgettable dining experience, thanks to its extraordinary staff. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a big, warm smile that immediately made us feel at home.
Our hospitality professional was exceptional. She had extensive knowledge about the menu and answered all our questions with patience and genuine enthusiasm, even though we asked so many! Her dedication to service was heartwarming, treating us with the care and attention one would expect from a family member.
A highlight of the evening was the surprise birthday celebration she helped prepare. I suspect my best friend coordinated this with her, but the thoughtfulness and effort she put into it made it magical.
Having traveled to multiple countries across three continents, I can confidently say this was the best treatment I have ever received. I regret not asking for her name, but to that wonderful soul who made my day: I’ll carry this memory with me forever 🫶🏼. You truly turned a great evening into a cherished memory. A big hug to you!

Read moreThe check in process was smooth and on time. I was on the first booking for their 2nd sitting. There was an older lady with short pixie hair cut who seemed to be serving in my section. I sat down at 8:45 pm which was my reservation time. I waited until 9:18pm with no one came to offer water or even a friendly greeting. I am starting to lose my patience so I politely trying to get her attention when she passed by our table several times and she turned her head and said “give me one min eh” and quickly disappeared. She did not come back to get our order until 9:47pm. I knew I have to order everything because I will have to wait for a long time if I wanted to add anything else. I had to order my water 4 times before I got my water! That is just plain rude and bad service! Not to mention Switzerland is know for their top notch services. This lady certainly missed many of her classes during her training 😂 for the food I didn’t enjoy it since she left a bad taste from the start. However, The restaurant up stairs, Julen is...
Read moreI highly recommend this restaurant to all people visiting Zermatt. I booked in advance a table for 4 ppl, we arrived on time yesterday. A lovely lady, Claudia, gave us a very warm welcome and led us to our table.
We have spent quite some time to choose the dishes, Claudia patiently introduced the wide selection on the menu. We aimed for the lamb, my husband and I picked lamb dishes, which was famous for Zermatt’s black nose lamb. My two kids, one preferred Cheese Fondu and one want to look for food other than the lamb. Claudia brought him another menu. We’re all satisfied with the dishes, the meat is tender and juicy with crispy outside. The cheese fondu is traditionally served with bread and small potatoes.
The dessert is one of the highlights that surprisingly delicious and a good mix of fresh fruits. I ordered Ginger-wasabi ice-cream, I was amazed of a new taste from a traditional Switzerland restaurant. I’m grateful for the quality of food, the excellent service provided by Claudia.
We really enjoyed...
