I was interested in going to Ojo de Agua because of positive reviews that I have read and heard and because I was very excited to go to an authentic Argentinian restaurant in Zurich. While the location itself with its simplistic and cosy furnishment does indeed remind of a typical Argentinian restaurant, the food and service was unfortunately not meeting our expectations. The food was generally ok, but definitely not special and absolutely not worth the price the restaurant requires. We ordered an appetiser platter for three people, which consisted of a few slices of jamon iberico and a few very regular antipasti (approximately 1-2 slices of jamon and olives/dried tomatoes/pickles per person!) and each person paid a regular appetiser price (for the ham alone 8.-/person). The steak was also not special, even if it is biologically certified meat, but it was not seasoned at all, it was not cooked the way we would have liked it to be and it was almost cold. The salad that came along with the meat was a bowl to share with plain salad leaves and very few tomatoes. I do like simplicity and I ate simple but delicious food in Argentina, but too simple is not always good - particularly consiering these unreasonable high prices. For the same amount of money, I have eaten way more delicious steak in...
Read moreThis place used to be small, authentic and fantastic a few years ago and had with Larissa a fantastic waitress, but it has gone seriously downhill. The food is now bland and uninspired — even the tartare, once a highlight, has become almost tasteless. The service is disturbingly disappointing: one of the female staff regularly brings a group of loud friends from the hood who sit outside drinking and smoking, while she chats and drinks with them instead of attending to actual guests. It feels chaotic and unprofessional.
The only thing that still meets the original standard is the wine selection — but that alone isn’t enough to justify a return. The past few experiences have been embarrassing, especially when bringing business guests to a place where we were treated poorly. We’ve decided to cancel our upcoming reservations and will not be...
Read moreWE HAVE BEEN FOOLED. We have been brought a white wine when we asked for rose. After asking them they changed it without question. The staff was friendly. In it I didn’t mind that. But when we have been brought a tenderloin instead of an entrecôte I was quite disappointed. The meat in itself was okay, but don’t charge people 45 CHF as for an entrecôte and serve a different type of meat. They probably noticed that we spoke another language between ourselves which was not either German nor English and thought that maybe this would be an opportunity to profit of some visitors. Just as a note, we are living since 2 years in Switzerland and this is the first time when I see...
