Dino Park Restaurant — Restaurant in Karon

All-round terrible experience. It started when we arrived and the waitress insisted that our reservation had been changed by an hour so there was no space for us as a group of 13 (whilst showing us a reservation change under a different name). After finding a small table, the waitress told us it was not possible to split the bill into groups/families because she did not have the time (every other restaurant during our holiday did this). Mains were delivered before starters, a few mains arrived 20 minutes earlier than others, and it was impossible to get the attention of the staff to order more water etc. Unfortunately two of our group got food poisoning the day after and felt nauseous right after eating their meal (pad thai and salmon pasta), the pizza was terrible (undercooked) and chicken thigh starter consisted of 90% batter, 10% chicken and had no flavour. Some of the curries were tasty, the drinks unfortunately also very watered down. Staff was not interested in handing the dishes/drinks to the right people (they simply dumped it on our table) and at times could not tell us what it was, this led to the wrong meal being handed too. Fortunately the birthday child did not notice the many negative things that happened, but under no circumstances can I recommend a family to go here even if your child...

I took the seafood basket (which costs ~25 USD). The portion size was large enough, but the squids and the mussels were awfully overcooked, the fish was served completely not cleaned/ready to eat (i.e. with skin and scales) and it was so dry it was basically impossible to eat. The buttered rice, however, was good. Overall the food quality was pretty low and the place is not cheap (we ended up spending 25USD each for a main course each and a bottle of beer. Cool restaurant with an open ambience and interesting dinosaur themed decor. The staff is friendly and speaks decent English. However, the service was very slow on the day we came. We waited for almost 20 min for someone to come and take our orders. The food was delicious, but quite pricy, especially the fresh seafood. We had a lobster of 800g, which costed us 2200 Baht and didn't taste that amazing. I guess you are paying the extra money for the environment and atmosphere. Overall it was a pleasant meal, but I don't know if I will eat the fresh...
