Review of Khan Baba Halal Restaurant, Kata Beach, Phuket
My favorites Khan Baba Halal Restaurant is a popular spot near Kata Beach, offering a variety of Pakistani, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Afghani cuisine with a fully halal menu. It caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians, making it a convenient option for Muslim travelers looking for authentic halal food in Phuket.
Ambiance & Atmosphere
The restaurant has a casual and family-friendly environment. While the décor is simple, it provides a comfortable space for dining, whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or as a solo traveler.
Food Quality & Taste
Khan Baba serves a variety of traditional dishes, including: ✔ Mutton Karahi & Chicken Biryani – Flavorful with rich spices. ✔ Mixed Grill & Kebabs – Well-marinated and grilled to perfection. ✔ Seafood Dishes – Fresh and well-prepared options. ✔ Vegetarian Choices – Separate kitchen for vegetarian food preparation.
The biryani and kebabs are among the most popular dishes, while the tandoori items are cooked well. However, some customers have mentioned inconsistencies in food quality, with occasional complaints about freshness and seasoning.
Service
✔ Halal-certified kitchen – Ideal for Muslim travelers. ✔ Friendly but inconsistent service – Some staff members are welcoming, while others could be more attentive.
Overall Experience
If you’re looking for authentic halal food in Kata Beach, Khan Baba Halal Restaurant is a good choice. The diverse menu and 100% halal options make it a reliable stop for Muslim travelers. While the food is generally flavorful, service and consistency can be improved.

Read moreThe food was decent, but the service was terrible.
I ordered a jalfrezi, which was missing several ingredients, yet it was still a decent curry, so I didn’t make a fuss about it. The other dishes we ordered were good, but nothing exceptional.
However, the service was as slow as many other reviews had mentioned, and that proved to be true. The manager came to take our order, but since we took a bit longer to decide, he got bored of waiting and sat back down. Five minutes later, another waiter came to take our order.
When it was time to pay, they informed me there would be an additional 3% charge for using a card. This wasn’t displayed anywhere in the restaurant. To make matters worse, instead of adding 3%, they rounded it off to 100 baht, which was not the stated percentage.
They have the potential to be a good dining spot, but the service is a significant drawback. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their customer service. I don’t like to see any business fail, but this is an honest review of...

This message is for Khan Baba.
I asked my husband to go here as I felt they were not as bad as the reviews were.
The service was quick their coconut was nice.
The dahi was nice too.
The bhindi was not fresh.
Shrimp pad Thai was not fresh.
The guy who took the order did not write the order.
I asked for a Miss I roti as I do not eat gluten. The roti that came was a wheat roti and when I asked the guy he took it back and came a few minutes later saying it was made of chickpea flour.
I am an Indian. I have eaten roties my whole life.
Khan baba you must be paying lots of rent for this place and paying these boys too who need training and changing their attitude.
Your boys need a kick in their ass and learn customer service from local Thai people if you want to keep this business going well...
