I run my own business and I love supporting businesses. This message is for Khan Baba. I asked my husband to go here as I felt they were not as bad as the reviews were. The service was quick their coconut was nice. The dahi was nice too. The bhindi was not fresh. Shrimp pad Thai was not fresh. The guy who took the order did not write the order. I asked for a Miss I roti as I do not eat gluten. The roti that came was a wheat roti and when I asked the guy he took it back and came a few minutes later saying it was made of chickpea flour. I am an Indian. I have eaten roties my whole life. Khan baba you must be paying lots of rent for this place and paying these boys too who need training and changing their attitude. Your boys need a kick in their ass and learn customer service from local Thai people if you want to keep this business going well and make money.

Khan Baba on Kata's main drag is a Nepali restaurant bravely sticking its neck out on a road chock-a-bloc with fancy seafood restaurants. It offers both Thai and Indian cuisine, vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian. It was lunchtime, and I ordered aloo mutter, naan and yellow dal. The food arrived quickly. The restaurant looks out on the road and is great for people-watching, especially in the late evening when people are looking for places to eat. I enjoyed looking out on the street, while enjoying my lunch. The aloo mutter was a bit indifferently made, but the naan was soft and the yellow dal was delicious. A spicy green chutney provided as an accompaniment was a delicious surprise. One can only wish Khan Baba well, and hope they succeed in the tough and competitive dining scene in Kata.

There plenty of room for improvement. This restaurant has lots of potential, it’s a matter of whether the owner/management will take heed of the many negative reviews. The service is super slow. We went on a slow afternoon for late lunch. We were the only table when we walked in and after us 2 more tables arrived, yet the wait staff moved at sloth speed. The prices were very steep, although understandably so, since it’s on a main road close to Kata beach, however, the quality does not match the prices. Naan is 50 baht per piece. The mix grill was 650 baht, but not worth it for the amount of food you get. The flavors were not memorable. They’re on a great location, hopefully they’ll fix all their problems. 2 stars as it was not awful but definitely not great.

Review of Khan Baba Halal Restaurant, Kata Beach, Phuket

My favorites Khan Baba Halal Restaurant is a popular spot near Kata Beach, offering a variety of Pakistani, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Afghani cuisine with a fully halal menu. It caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians, making it a convenient option for Muslim travelers looking for authentic halal food in Phuket.

Ambiance & Atmosphere

The restaurant has a casual and family-friendly environment. While the décor is simple, it provides a comfortable space for dining, whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or as a solo traveler.

Food Quality & Taste

Khan Baba serves a variety of traditional dishes, including: ✔ Mutton Karahi & Chicken Biryani – Flavorful with rich spices. ✔ Mixed Grill & Kebabs – Well-marinated and grilled to perfection. ✔ Seafood Dishes – Fresh and well-prepared options. ✔ Vegetarian Choices – Separate kitchen for vegetarian food preparation.

The biryani and kebabs are among the most popular dishes, while the tandoori items are cooked well. However, some customers have mentioned inconsistencies in food quality, with occasional complaints about freshness and seasoning.

Service

✔ Halal-certified kitchen – Ideal for Muslim travelers. ✔ Friendly but inconsistent service – Some staff members are welcoming, while others could be more attentive.

Overall Experience

If you’re looking for authentic halal food in Kata Beach, Khan Baba Halal Restaurant is a good choice. The diverse menu and 100% halal options make it a reliable stop for Muslim travelers. While the food is generally flavorful, service and consistency can be improved.

I Recommended for halal Pakistani, Indian, and Middle Eastern...

The food was decent, but the service was terrible.

I ordered a jalfrezi, which was missing several ingredients, yet it was still a decent curry, so I didn’t make a fuss about it. The other dishes we ordered were good, but nothing exceptional.

However, the service was as slow as many other reviews had mentioned, and that proved to be true. The manager came to take our order, but since we took a bit longer to decide, he got bored of waiting and sat back down. Five minutes later, another waiter came to take our order.

When it was time to pay, they informed me there would be an additional 3% charge for using a card. This wasn’t displayed anywhere in the restaurant. To make matters worse, instead of adding 3%, they rounded it off to 100 baht, which was not the stated percentage.

They have the potential to be a good dining spot, but the service is a significant drawback. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their customer service. I don’t like to see any business fail, but this is an honest review of...
