I spontaneously visited the BELGA with a good friend today - with its Belgian charm, Belgian beers and culinary highlights from the Belgian kitchen it is the place to relax.
Located on the 32nd floor of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, the Bar & Brasserie with its fantastic view over the city is something special. But what else is special about the BELGA – it is the atmosphere. As soon as you step out of the lift on the 32nd floor you feel at home. The guest rooms have the cosy ambience of a Belgian inn and the service is warm, courteous and professional.
Of course, there is also an almost unmanageable number of delicious Belgian beers - both from the bottle, as well as freshly tapped. The menu is well arranged and full of culinary delights - we left the selection of food and drinks completely to the hands of Chef Nicolas and were in the right place.
In the BELGA sharing is the thing - as well as in the Belgian inn, people share food, whereby all meals are arranged so that this is easy manageable.
First, we had mussels in a white beer-cream sauce - accompanied by excellent bread - dreamlike! There was also a mayonnaise that was refined by Khun Min - Maître Mayonnaise - live at our table to our liking - with white truffle. In addition, crispy Belgian fries and shrimp & cheese croquettes were served.
In the main course we had a delicious grilled Côte de Boeuf (rib-eye on the bone) - about one kilo. The meat was tender and crispy on the outside and seasoned with just a little coarse salt - an experience for every steak lover. There was Stoemp - a coarser potato mash with root vegetables - and a salad Liégeoise with egg, potato and a very delicious beer vinaigrette.
Of course, there are also the real Belgian waffles at BELGA - but unfortunately, we did not have a space after the rich meal ... 😉 ... maybe next time.
The prices in the BELGA are rather low in the Bangkok comparison - hardly to believe that you can get such a high-quality and delicious kitchen over the rooftops of Bangkok.
After the meal, the bar area with a live DJ invites you to linger and chill out - here you have definitely to drop by.
Under the guidance of Christian Carminati (F & B Director), Nicolas Basset (Chef Nico) & Khun Thongpoon (F & B Manager), the BELGA team has created a new place for well-being.
A clear recommendation on my part for the BELGA - it was just fun and we will certainly come back.

The evening service is in full swing and the staff is extremely busy. Nevertheless, everyone is extremely friendly and we are brought to our reserved table on the terrace. What an incredible view. On the 32nd floor here you not only enjoy the beautiful Bangkok overview, but you also have the cozy lighting and detail atmosphere of the surrounding beautiful buildings. This in contrast to, for example, the very high rooftops where you only have the total view.
I can assure you; GM Peter and his Chef Nico will give you an unforgettable evening with their well-trained team. A nice and extensive assortment of Belgian beers including Orval. Even in Belgium, this beer is not always available everywhere. Draft Duvel, I can name on 1 hand where this is available. Very exclusive indeed.
The food then. We tasted the ARTISANAL PLATTER. A large slate full of "preskop" or Pig head terrine, 4 types of artisanal cheese, dried ham and salami. Tip: ask the mustard for the preskop. They have 4 different types of mustard, delicious! After that we ordered the mix croquettes. Nicely served in a frying basket and both have a smooth taste, the shrimp croquette full of gray shrimps as it should be. We couldn’t resist from ordering the classic “Tomate Crevette” or GREY SHRIMP SALAD. These freshly imported Grey Shrimps from Holland are the best shrimps in the world. Ask my Thai wife. 😊 The L’AMÉRICAIN is also highly recommended. Crispy fries and no less than 3 sauces. In addition to the mandatory mayonnaise, there was also a spicy cocktail sauce and a garlic sauce, hmmm ... tasty!
My wife was also surprised by a Liège waffle with vanilla ice cream and strawberries served by the entire team on the occasion of her birthday. Satisfied and looking back on a wonderful evening, we ensure that we will certainly be returning soon to taste the real Dutch mussels, as they could no longer reach them today.
See you soon Belga, see you soon Peter, see...
