In summary: Wife received food poisoning on honeymoon celebratory meal. Manager only wanted to take one item off bill (the undercooked scallops). Manager bartered with me regarding the bill whilst Sophie was being sick in the restroom. I feel the manager genuinely won the bartering - we still ended up paying a lot more than what’s fair for being poisoned.
My Wife and I are on our Honeymoon and couldn’t help but notice this restaurant was rated Number 1 on Tripadvisor. We booked and all was well until my wife’s main meal - Scallops. Sophie ate a bite of the scallops and then passed a small piece over to me. This is probably too much information but I spat the food out (as politely as I could). The scallops were undercooked. We are quiet people and didn’t wish to kick up a fuss so we just asked for the menu to order something else for Sophie. Sadly 5-10 minutes later Sophie started to feel heavily nauseous and went to the bathroom to be ill. Sensing my wife wanted to go home as soon as possible I ordered the bill. Knowing that we thought the main course was undercooked the manager could sense my urgency to leave, especially on further questioning and realising my wife was ill. This is when I was shocked by the choice of management taken. The manager said she would “kindly” take Sophies main course off the Total bill. Due to Sophie being ill I had not eaten much of my own main meal and we ordered cocktails but did not drink these. I couldn’t help say, “are you sure you wish to only take 1 item off the bill” (the food poisoning item/Sophie is still in the toilets being ill at this point). The manager looked as though I was being very cheeky for asking this. I even questioned myself for a moment…until I thought of Sophie and the meals/drinks we hadn’t had. I was wishing for this to be sorted really soon given the urgency. The manager came back a few minutes later and gave a counter offer (it appears we had entered a bartering stage). The counter offer would be to take the two main courses off the total bill but not the drinks (which we hadn’t consumed…because of the obvious - Sophie currently ill with food poisoning). I didn’t let my frustrations show but I was now unhappy - I wished to leave and get Sophie home but I had this feeling that we were now being treated unfairly. I said, “is there anything else you would like to take off the bill, everything you see on the table that is hardly touched is because Sophie is ill”. The manager now let out an audible sigh, and a shake of the head - that suggested I was the one being unfair. The manager went away again to talk this over with other staff. The manager returned (Sophie is still in the restroom at this point). The manager now wished to remove the main courses and the unconsumed drinks from the bill. I felt I had run out of time to barter anymore, Sophie needed to come home. Truth be told - I was surprised we were having to pay for our starters and starter drinks - but we simply didn’t have time to go into the next round...
Read moreVery disappointed or bad experience 👎👎😞 We are not in-house guest, grab car to visit that famous bar & restaurant. Our seats are near the main entrance. The waitress politely arrange the first vacant table to us. We were sitting at the narrow corridor lol. Though I can see a sofa seating available not far away. Seat is bit uncomfortable and tight. can't move freely. The waitress just get it done as quick as possible.
View not stunning, nice and wide at our front. My view is also blocked by the tree at the corner. Narrow corridor beside us, you won't feel relax atmosphere there.
We ordered 2 main dishes and 2 drinks that night. Can't believe they meet 5-star hotel standard. Our medium Wagyu Rib Eye not tender or juicy at all. Far below my expectation. Chicken is just so so... I have visited restaurants at Hong Kong Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency for several times. Their food are always good!!!
Too noisy and crowded. When we were eating, suddenly many visitors came out to the main entrance for chatting. More than 20 people in that small place. No one can enjoy the meal under this unexpected situation I think. Don't claim it is a romantic place. Obviously management fault here...
The worst thing is the outside getting hot. No ice water for us from beginning to end even we are dining. Is it reasonable? They just ask if I want one more wine or beer. Making money to the hotel is good attitude. But taking good care of your customers is the most most important goal. Finally, I saw mosquitos...
As a tourist, I am not satisfied with this bar/ restaurant. Waste of my time and money. We finished our meal within an hour, absolutely not enjoyable and feel disappointed. 😫 Never visit again. Spend almost 💰B4800, ridiculously high price with that low quality in BANGKOK!!!
*BTW, Toilet and lobby are nice. Bell boy is polite and helpful, can speak...
Read moreWe stayed at this Hyatt and heard great things about this rooftop bar and restaurant. The views, food, drinks, and service were all great but unfortunately, even with a reservation, we were unknowingly placed in the smoking section outside. We soon discovered half of the rooftop is dedicated to cigarette smokers and multiple smokers walked right next to our table to light up and smoke multiple cigarettes that completely ruined the taste and smell of our gourmet food. If you smoke cigarettes or prefer the smell of cigarettes to mask the smell and taste of well prepared meals this restaurant is for you. Otherwise you will need to clarify with the hostess to not sit in a smoking section. The hostess acts dishonestly and will not disclose that they are seating you in a smoking section before they seat you and there are no signs to disclose which section of the roof is smoking and non-smoking. It would be one thing if a meal for two did not cost over 5,000 baht but since customers are paying this price, it should be expected that the hostess would ask and get confirmation that customers are okay being seated next to chain smokers when the other half of the rooftop is non smoking. It completely felt like we were expected to just deal with smelling like cigarette smoke while paying so much for a meal. I would not recommend this restaurant outside area to anyone who does not smoke cigarettes. They made us suffer when they should have forced cigarette smokers to go smoke down at the street level. Not worth the price and...
