I dined at Front Room last night with my wife and her friends, and while the service was truly exceptional—warm, attentive, and polished—the overall experience left us mixed.
The ambiance is undeniably refined, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. However, the food, while solid, didn’t quite justify the premium pricing. My favorite dish was the plant-based green curry, which was flavorful and thoughtfully composed. Unfortunately, other entrees like the cabbage and shrimp felt underwhelming and lacked the finesse we expected at this price point.
One major disappointment was the water service. Bottled water was brought to the table without any mention of cost, and we were later charged 320 baht per bottle, plus tax and service charge—bringing the total to 375 baht per bottle. That’s an astonishing price for imported Italian water, especially when high-quality domestic options are readily available. Beyond the cost, it’s also an unsustainable practice that clashes with modern eco-conscious values. Transparency here would have gone a long way.
In summary: impeccable service, decent food, but questionable value—especially when small details like water pricing feel misaligned with guest...
Read moreOne of the highlights of my trip! Cozy atmosphere with modern interiors. We started off cocktails: old fashioned and whiskey sour which were both balanced and didn't have too much of a punch. They also provided complimentary entree of spicy seaweed with sauce that tasted like a nutty version of kechap manis which I really enjoyed.
On to the main course, we got lamb chop green curry and river prawns. The lamb chops were thinly sliced which made it easier to devour and the green curry sauce was 100/10 outstanding. River prawns were fresh and my companion enjoyed it a lot!
Desserts were probably my least favorite. We ordered the coconut ice cream with crisps and Mille fieulle. They also gave us some complimentary orange jelly. The ice cream wasn't creamy and tasted more like a sorbet and crisps were burnt. Mille fieulle was too thick and flaky.
Overall though, I wouldn't mind coming back to comb through their menu. Keep in mind, this place is expensive as we...
Read moreHad Saturday brunch here yesterday. We were part of a large group so we were in a private room at the back. The staff looked after us tremendously, it’s always tricky with a large group but they managed us well.
The real pull here is the quality of food. Of all the brunches I’ve been to in the city I’d say this one stood above all the rest. The seafood was super fresh, the beef cheek (a choice of one of four mains to accompany the buffet) was so tender it melts in the mouth. The duck option was really good too, topped with a little foie gras too. The caviar trolley is of course a welcome addition and it made two visits while we here!
The free flow wine package is fun. The wines aren’t particularly serious and there’s no champagne package, that is available by the bottle only. But the Prosecco is dry enough to work with the food.
Very much enjoyed. My thanks to the...
