This is a long message, but if you're like me, a vegan cook, and have tried many places, this will convince you to go. I went with zero expectations. This trip, I just keep ordering food, then not finishing it. Much too often, too expensive as well! For example, I order curry or pad Thai and it's too greasy. So, I usually just order fresh spring rolls, and the restaurants give me bottled sweet and sour sauce as a dipping sauce, which is also so disappointing (I'm used to peanut sauces or tamarind...anything homemade)! Anyway, first, this place is in a food court. You have to get a prepaid card from card counter to orderdon't forget to return, to get money back. Second, I ordered mock chicken (which was steamed/sautéed tofu skin, which is one of my most favorite things in the world), with rice and fried dumplings. Third, for 150 baht, I think it's the cheapest meal I've had in two weeks, plus I actually ate it all. Fourth, they have chili vinegar/hot sauce available...(obviously without fish sauce), at the counter, so that's a win for me! And finally, fifth point...both dishes came with the right amount of dipping sauce. Yum yum, I might go there again. It's less than 45 min walk from Khaosan. I took a taxi scooter there (100 baht), but walked back (along the river, was really nice, at sunset). And bonus...not everything was deep fried. Plus, I am really sick of Buddhist vegetarian places (the buffet kind, no offense, I just can't personally eat at at them anymore. I've just had it too many times in Asia), so I was happy to see a new variety on this menu! A real treat! Bring your own drinks, fresh juice in the area (Siam) they are charging 100 baht for small bottles,...
Read moreWow. All vegan in a food hall was a first for me. Maybe things have changed, but I didn't find a buffet to self-serve from as I thought I'd read about. I was led by a helpful person through an amazing number and variety of take out enterprises to a small opening where, indeed, the Talalak sign was clearly evident, and the food was displayed to choose from. As I don't speak any Thai I just said : "soup" as I'd seen a bowl leave, and it looked super. He put a bunch of stuff in, some I figured out, like tofu and greens, but there were also a couple of bites of probably some type of fake meat. Tasty. Plus noodles with a little spice on top. It was really a bit chaotic in there for photos, though. Anyway, if you are in Bangkok, and you just happen to find yourself on the ground in the not very down to earth at all, Siam Paragon, head...

The food hall is so overwhelming chaotic but Talalaks is a haven of veganism and impeccable flavour! Doesn’t matter what you get it’s going to be delicious. So delicious that I flew back 2 months later to eat the entire menu !!
