I’ve visited Treasure Spa at Siam on numerous occasions pre-covid when I’m in Bangkok. Those experiences were great. Thus, the repeated visits.
However, for the recent visit on 6 September, 2022, 4 - 6.30 p.m., I was greatly disappointed. (This time round, I stayed quite a distance away from Siam but made a deliberate trip to Treasure Spa.)
My husband and I paid 5800 baht for Deep Tissue Massage x 1, Foot and Leg massage x 1 and Aroma Oil Massage x 1.
The impact of the massage was negligible. The deep tissue massage ended up being mostly “skin rub”. At some junctures, force was used. As someone who goes for massages pretty often, I definitely found the techniques and method of pressing odd, making me feel very uneasy during those times.
While I was feeling upset during the message, I just tolerated it - purely out of respect for the masseur. Thus, after the massage, I didn’t want to complete the feedback form given to me. However, my husband, out of politeness, completed his and mine on my behalf, giving an average of 7/10 for every aspect on the forms.
I left the spa, feeling upset - having wasted time and money. Nonetheless, I cast those frustrations aside, not wanting to ruin my final day in Bangkok.
The very next day, however, I started feeling pain on my left shoulder blade, right side of my neck and lower back. Rashes started to appear on my legs. This prompted me to recall the very hard press on my left shoulder blade and the masseur resting her whole upper body on me while I was in a seated position (with legs folded and crossed) towards the final few minutes of the session. It also left me wondering about the oil quality because when I smelled the variety of oils presented to me pre-massage for selection, my nose could hardly pick up any scent.
It’s been 3 days since the massage. The pain and aches on my body persist - most profoundly felt on the neck and lower back. Normal moisturising lotion doesn’t help, so I’m using steroid cream to help the rashes subside.
It was not the huge disappointment in the quality of service that prompted me write this review, but really the pain and discomfort that I’m having which led me to wonder if the masseur is qualified and adequately trained. The salt to the wound was the non-response from the spa to the email I sent them.
For now, I could only hope that the pain would go off eventually and I do not need to seek medical...
Read moreToday I had a chance to try the Hammam service. I arrived to the spa 20 mins before the appointment time. When I got there, the staff just told me to have a seat. I thought someone would come greet me and introduce products/services. But "no one". I was served with the welcome drink. After 5 mins, someone place a selection of oil tray in front of me, without even explain to me anything. After another 5 mins, they handed me a consultation form, again without explaining anything to me. No menu, no confirmation of the treatment, no introduction about their spa or what so ever. It wasnt even a busy day. A quiet rainy weekday. Afterward, a lady came to present the bill, i didnt even receive any information/confirmation about anything yet. What's the rush in charging the customer??!!?? At least, the staff should approach the customer nicely. Not "if you dont mind to settle the bill before" I have been in the service industry for 20 years and have never experienced this rudeness anywhere before The treatment itself was ok. The aunty therapist was kind but she was too chatty. After the treatment, again at the waiting area, no one came to check on me how was the treatment and service. I asked the lady at the front for my receipt, she said she couldnt get it for me because they already settled everything. But how come no one gave it to me when I signed the card before the treatment? She just gave the excuse that her colleague probably forgot. And only manager can access the system. So I decided to ask the lady that usually no one approach the customer before and after the treatment? Or because I am Thai. I wasn't even offered the menu of the spa. She said may be because I already choose the hammam service which assuming I already know about everything. Seriously??!!?? It's a cute place but too bad the customer service was a nightmare. Will never ever go back again and will not dare to...
Read moreHad a crazy good massage here. 90-minute deep tissue and selected “3 out of 3” strength, because other places “2 out of 3” strength aroma oil massage felt like rubbing oil on a slab of meat. Not here. Lady worked hard. Lady worked ME hard. There were moments I thought I had to ask for mercy but I was resilient and I made it through and I am glad that I did. My body felt like it’s been reconstructed. I could turn my neck and rotate my head 90-degrees. My flesh has been softened and blessed. If I were a piece of steak or pork chop I would be succulent. So if you want to relax and maybe nap a little, go for “1 or 2 out of 3 strength, oil massage. If you want the real deal and get to the bottom of your body, go for “3 out of 3” deep tissue massage. And you would feel your new body for days to come. After the physical reconstruction I was followed by a forest calm head massage when I fell asleep nicely in gentle hands shampooing and massaging of the head. It’s just perfect.
Overall.. this is where I’d come for a massage if I were to visit Bangkok every time. You walk in and come out a...
