The staff etiquette and English skills are lacking for the atmosphere that the aesthetic creates. The waiter seemed surprised that I even entered and didn’t seem prepared. He was kind though. After placing my order he came out and told me that my dish was too spicy and so I told him to use less spice, then what seemed to be a manager came and approached me in a uncasually causal manner and with a bold tone mentioned to me that I might not want the dish because of the spice and asked if they could make it another way.. Which I responded, just make it per usual. At this point it seemed like such a complicated order and I’m not the one to be answering chef questions. Then it turned out the waiter mistook my order and had the manager bring the wrong dish. When I mentioned it to her she seems upset and then said to me, “its ok” as if the mix up were not the fault of the waiters English skills, she spoke very curt with the waiter and then he promptly brought out another dish but this time it was a third of the portion of the other dish and in a much smaller bowl as if for a child serving and quickly left on the table and scurried away as if something were wrong. I get the impression that whoever she was, she was upset with me because of the mix up or simply because they just didn’t want to make what I ordered for some reason. Either way the confusion here and the abrupt attitudes weren’t exactly the experience I wanted at this price point. I was hoping to find a nice restaurant and have a quality experience. The waiter also never came back to the table to check the quality of the food, ask if everything was ok, or even see if I wanted to order more, which I did, I’ve been writing this review after my meal finished for the last 20 minutes and no has even looked in this direction. Very poor service. The food was tasty though so I rate...
Read moreThe atmosphere was quite chill. The area is just walking distance to Khao San road. Courtyard restaurant is a little bit pricey but for tourists who would like to eat some Thai dishes but are hesitant to try out the 'street foods', this one is a good alternative - if you do not mind the price. It's in between Burger King and Starbucks so if you changed your mind and want to eat familiar fastfood instead- go to Burger King, if you'd like coffee after your meal- go to Starbucks. Service was veeeery slooooow especially if you are a foreigner - I do not know why (according to my caucasian friends - they've been here twice before).. but was a little bit faster when I was there (again according to my caucasian friends.. probably because I look like 'local' and communicating in the local language is faster).. 🤷♀️🤷♀️ Meal was okay ー they'd like me to recommend Thai dishes that the have not tasted yet.. good thing they liked my...
Read moreThis place has so much potential but sadly it fails with the quality of the food. We ordered 2 dishes. One was below average and the other I had to send back as the beef was full of gristle. When explaining this to the manager she said this is how braising beef should be. I have never had it like this in any other restaurant. They agreed to not charge for that dish but immediately gave us the bill for the evening. Before this the service we received was nice and they had a singer who was really good. Because of the way the manager handled the situation I cannot recommend this restaurant. There are plenty more options you should choose...
