We spent 5 nights in the Sultan Room at the Blue House. It offers a great view of the Blue Mosque and the Sea of Marmara. The hotel is very conveniently located within a short distance of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, and the Basilica Cistern and other attractions in the Sultanahmet section of Istanbul. This allowed us to visit places in the morning, return for a rest, and then venture out again in the afternoon and evening. The staff, especially Firat on the front desk, was very helpful in arranging taxis, a cruise on the Bosporus and Golden Horn. Hearing the 5 daily calls to prayer from the Blue Mosque added to the cultural immersion. The first nigh at the hotel we ate at the rooftop restaurant. We were served the best lamp chops I've ever eaten! The included breakfasts were adequate and the coffee was good.||Degrading our stay at the Blue House were several issues. The exalted Sultan Room was hot, even in early April. It is west-facing and even opening the windows did little to cool off the room. Circling crows and nearby nesting seagulls on the rooftops below discouraged us from having the windows open without the shear curtains (no screens) in place. So, you ask "what about air conditioning." Yes, the Sultan Room has an air conditioning unit, but the Blue House Hotel refused to provide power to it. You see, it's still the chilly season in Istanbul we were told and so there is no need for for conditioning, never mind that the room was sweltering, even at night. Not even a fan was offered.||The second problem was that all but one light bulb was burned on in the chandelier over the bed. The one in the anteroom was not in much better shape. Other issues included virtually now place to set luggage other than the floor and a toilet seat that was about to fall off until the housekeeping called in the maintenance man to fix it on the 3rd day of our stay.||So, consider these tradeoffs before...
Read moreWe first discovered this hotel during our first trip to Istanbul when we ate a dinner on its wonderful rooftop — even though we weren’t staying here at the time, we often stopped by. Each visit felt like stepping into a warm embrace. The atmosphere was so welcoming, so genuine, that we found ourselves returning again and again, just to enjoy the vibe and the energy. There’s something about this place that instantly makes you feel at ease—like you’re part of something special.
On our second trip, we decided to stay here—and it was the best decision we could have made. The location is perfect: right in the centre of the historic Sultanahmet district, just a few steps from iconic landmarks like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Bosphorus shoreline. Despite being in the center of everything, the hotel feels like a peaceful oasis where you can slow down, breathe, and truly enjoy the moment.
Our room had a spectacular view overlooking the sea and the Blue Mosque. Watching the sunset over the domes and minarets from our window and the amazing rooftop was magical. The room itself was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed—thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail.
But what really sets this place apart is the people. The hospitality here goes beyond professionalism; it's heartfelt. You can sense that the team loves what they do and cares deeply about creating an experience, not just providing a service. Whether it’s offering travel tips, sharing a laugh, or simply making sure you're comfortable, their warmth makes all the difference. You are always taken care of.
It’s hard to put into words, but the overall energy of this place is something truly unique—full of joy, kindness, and connection. That’s why, even before we stayed here, we already felt at home. And now that we’ve experienced it as guests, we know for sure: we’ll...
Read moreThe Blue House Hotel in Istanbul offers an unforgettable stay with stunning views of the Blue Mosque.
I initially went back in October I booked 3 separate stays for total of 5 nights as I kept extending my stay as I received exceptional service from concierge and all the hotel staff throughout my 5 night stay.
I returned again recently in mid December and loved my experience once again and would recommend for other travelers whether you go solo like myself or with others. I edited to reflect update & few photos
I loved the authentic Turkish charm and it’s greatly located, walking distance of multiple tourist attractions. Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are 3-6m walking distance as well as mini bazaar near hotel. Convenient to get around whether walking, taking train or uber/yellow cab to other areas of town attractions.
Breakfast was delicious each day, I recommend trying the egg dish w/tomatoes to experience a unique Turkish dish.
The Rooftop offered amazing views of the city and especially of the Blue mosque both during day/night was breathtaking. I dined at rooftop also, I recommend the grilled Chicken and or Chicken Kabob dish which came with sides of a mini salad and French fries. If you’re looking for a popular dessert San Sebastián which is a cheesecake with a chocolate sauce the rooftop restaurant also has it and was very creamy and delicious.
Overall I had an excellent experience from checkin, extending my stay, breakfast and dining and seeing as much of Istanbul as I could during my stay as hotel was conveniently situated to nearby attractions as well as a mini bazaar.
The hotel also offers live DJ...
