We dined at the Seafront Lounge a few days ago. The young waiter who served us was lovely and the views fantastic. We ordered starters of octopus in butter and stuffed calamari as well as the mixed fish platter with a Greek salad to share as a main. The salad was bought out early but it wasn’t a hot evening so that wasn’t really an issue.
The octopus starter came out first with the stuff calamari at least ten mins later. We hadn’t planned to share but it would have been awkward to have one person eating while the other waited or have the first starter cold. Both the octopus and the stuffed calamari were lovely with a soft texture. Not a rubber band in sight. Unfortunately, the fish platter was a massive disappointment. The vast majority of the fish was dry and over cooked.
However, the real disappointment was both the atmosphere, namely the photo shoot and drone flying going on behind us and the bill. There was an unfamiliar charge which my husband used google translate to understand, it was 10% of the bill and therefore looked like service. We asked to pay by credit card and when the machine was bought over, the older manager was very quick to tell us that service was not included. This was the first time in our week long stay that someone had effectively told us to tip (which we had been doing anyway). When we asked what the charge on the bill was, we were told it was a ‘tax’. My husband pointed out that it had not been listed on any other itemised bill that we had been presented with but we paid and left. Overall, the starters and service were great but it was marred by the dry main course and the...
Read moreOn Saturday, July 29, 2023 at @ 3:40 PM, we (4)went for lunch…. We are vegetarians ( by religion) went for a late lunch. Made it abundantly clear that we do not eat meat, sea food or chicken. The waiter helped with the order…. We ordered two falafels. One dish of French fries/onion rings (as an appetizer) and vegetables…. One of the appetizers had crab in it. We did not know but in my first bite I sensed a different taste…. To my surprise it was mini crab leg!!! I hen I told the waiter, I heard one waiter telling my waiter that the customer had for vegetarian to which my waiter just waived and they took those four pieces away. When we asked for ketchup, he ponted to a mix of mayo and ketchup ( but I hat is not what we wanted),,, with falafel we requested Pita bread, they said they have run out of it and gave us regular bread…. Granted, it was late in the afternoon, but the attitude was horrible!!! For the above four dishes and a coke can and water bottle, the bill came to @1,600 Turkish Lira…. View was great, but the food was horrible and staff was...
Read moreCrazy expensive food that was not that good, the tax added was oblivious, additional tea on our bill that we didn’t order. The guy in front of the restaurant promises free appetiser, tea, coffee and desserts. The appetiser was in fact free (bread and olive oil), however coffee and tea were quite expensive and added to our bill (170 per Turkish coffee, 160 per cappuccino, 60 per tea). We had to ask for the dessert and I think we got it for free only because we were a large group of people and we asked about it after we got the bill and they couldn’t change it (baklava). The stuff was not really impressive. They were on their phones the whole time and seemed to be annoyed when asked something. Also the whole dinner we sat in the sun because they didn’t have any blinds. Got hot really fast and was told to open the windows. Annoying but acceptable I guess. Overall the food was okay, the view was amazing, the prices were through the roof, the stuff was lying and not too helpful. Not...
