I called in three weeks in advance for my self and my partner for her birthday, as they had a vegan afternoon tea on the menu. And unfortunately we didn't have the best experience. I understand they was pretty busy when we was there, but we was waiting 40 mins for our afternoon when they knew we was coming. And I'm sorry but the three tiny sandwiches that came was un eatable due to the bread being stale and it was just full of mayonnaise and butter & same with the Hummus one, they really didn't taste nice.

The little cake and scone was OK. The cream for the scone was from a can, which wasn't great.

When we mentioned this to the owner, she was very sassy and rude about it.

She did ask what other vegan sandwiches they could do in the future so they don't have the same issue, which was good.

It would have been nice of her to of offered us some discount off of the bill but she didn't. So we paid £17.50 for a cake/scone/tea 🤦‍♂️

Just a little heads up to anyone who is vegan and thinking of trying the afternoon tea. Maybe contact them first to see if they have changed...

Not allergen safe due to negligent staff! Came here because it had a good reputation for gluten-free food. Ordered an afternoon tea including carrot cake, plus two more gluten-free carrot cakes. Noticed when they arrived that the two individual cakes looked different to the one that came with afternoon tea and thankfully decided to question it. Waitress apologised for the mix-up and admitted they miscommunicated our order for everything to be gluten-free. At no point did they ask if anyone had allergies, even after we realised we had eaten some of the wrong cake! Thankfully we are just coeliac, as if anyone had been allergic I don't think we would have gotten any help. I still wouldn't advise eating here even if you don't have dietary requirements. The afternoon tea was very small and overpriced for what it was. We asked for jam and cream for the single scone we were given, then had to ask again 15 minutes later after the first waitress just seemed to forget about us. Allergen training and general customer service could definitely have been...

Looks really lovely from the outside, with plenty of customers. Given the location possibly first time customers, visitors to the area, etc. The staff were all female and all looked very young, and lacked friendly conversation. We ordered the Full English Breakfast, whereby the usual breakfast items, beans & black pudding were an additional £0.75p. We swapped the fried bread for black pudding. We also ordered a coffee and a tea. As you can see from the pictures, the breakfast looked ok, though tasted greasy, bland and dry. The toast was half toasted on 1 side only, dry bacon, mushrooms shrivelled dry and tasteless, the saussage was full of fat and tasted awful. This was the worst cooked breakfast I have ever had. We both left half the breakfast and paid. We were charged for the black pudding, even though it was a swap. Total price £20.25. Pointless complaining as the staff looked to young and preferred not to embarrass them. As a result this post will reach the 657,000 people on my google reviews. Warning - have...

We stumbled in here on a rainy day looking for some gluten free options, of which we found several !! The lunch selections were decent, and the *meal* prices were incredibly fair. The food was admittedly somewhat simple, my husband loved the leek and potatoe soup which came as part of the special. We got the impression the focus was put more on the bakery and drinks so I had to try some gluten free caramel apple crumble pie. MY GOD was it good !! However, it was nearly £6 for one lone slice. Having said that, it was surprisingly WORTH that much (but maybe just the once) The soft drinks I must admit were absurdly priced (over £4!!) and teeny tiny. The staff seemed quite friendly, however they were very busy as the place appeared to be quite popular, particularly for drinks. May return for the gluten free menu and affordable lunch, and will dream of the apple pie, but a little thrown off by the underwhelming meals and the high prices of other items. I am also celiac and faced no adverse reactions whatsoever.

I had a gift for afternoon tea for two and I chose to use the voucher in this tea room, it’s was a lovely experience, warm friendly staff, very welcoming upon arrival and was allowed to select our preferred seating over the two floors, I’m glad I picked upstairs as the surroundings with the old fashioned furniture lends itself to add to the afternoon tea atmosphere. The building is historic and charming, displaying its heritage from the moment you walk through the door. The afternoon tea was served with rather tea or coffee and we selected tea and this was real tea leaves in vintage teapots and extra hot water to top up the pots. Beautiful bone china cups and saucers to add make the tea taste even better. The trio tower of sandwiches, scones and cakes were presented beautifully and extremely fresh and ample portions. Beautiful scone with clotted cream and jam was delicious. All the staff were very attentive to every need and the overall service was spot on. Thank you for such a lovely experience.
