I had lunch with my friends on a weekday. The 12% tip will be included, so we were looking forward to receiving the great customer service, but there was none. We arrived at the restaurant on time of the reservation but no one took us to a table. It was not busy at all, and we had eye contact with some waiters and waitress, but they just ignored us, so we stood there for over 5 minutes. Other customers were served fine, so we felt racism. (We are Asian) After we got the table, we asked a few questions about some wine, but the waitress had no knowledge of it and couldn't answer anything. We were surprised to see the cheap quality water bottle which we can buy it from Wilko in the fine restaurant. We hoped that at least the food would be amazing, but the main plaice dish was very sweet. Even more sweet than the egg tart, which had no flavour at all. The champagne, the starter, and the coffee were nice. The restaurant is beautiful, so it was so shame that service and food weren't. I can't recommend this restaurant to my Asian friends because I don't want them to experience...

Total disaster. We had a early reservation and everything started fine. Then I noticed it seemed busy. I turns out they had a wedding reception of over 40 people right next to us!!!!! I was eating my steak and had a boy playing his game boy about 20cms from my face and I was surrounded by the whole reception. I one man was leaning on my table!!!! We only had half a meal. I told the manager yet he still charged £97. I as spoke to reception who where more helpful. The waiter who put us on the table right next to a wedding reception came out acting the big man like it was my fault there where 40 people standing around my table (one in a wedding dress) I spoke to the manager again who said they couldn't do a refund, so but I have stayed in this hotel several times and this was a total disaster, and even writing this in a review is still shocking. He finally knocked of £38. Why would you put people next to a wedding reception and forget yo mention it? Totally unbelievable and expecting us to pay...

Sadly this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in many a year. What should have been a lovely anniversary meal for 4 was a disaster. I can only assume it was a staff training day but the manager did her best to rectify the admitted mistakes. We had to ask multiple times for the wine list and water for the table( which was plonked unceremoniously and unopened) Our starter orders were fine and tasty, the mains were another matter altogether. Steaks were cooked incorrectly with wrong sides, the halibut when it arrived was cold and tiny. It did not arrive back in time to eat before we had finished our mains(we took as long as we could ) It may sound like I'm being fussy but believe me that's not the case. Completely prepared to put it down as a one off but I always like to give an honest review. Again I have to praise the manager who did her very best to redeem the situation and am hoping for much better on...

From the moment I walked into La Brasserie in Chester, everything felt flawless. The ambiance is stunning – classic yet modern – with warm lighting and elegant décor that creates a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere. Jerome was exceptional – highly professional, attentive, and personable. From recommending the perfect drinks to guiding me through the menu, his service made the whole experience feel personal and seamless. The food was outstanding: beautifully presented, perfectly balanced flavors, and clearly made with top-quality ingredients. Every course was memorable, from the starters to the desserts. Overall, La Brasserie delivered one of my best dining experiences in Chester – a perfect combination of elegant setting, world-class service, and exceptional food. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined and memorable evening. ✨👌

Unfortunately not recommendable for vegans. I was excited to choose from the vegan menu and picked the Jersey Royal fricassee. What I received were a few potatoes with green peas and green leaves, no sauce, barely a trace of seasoning. For £21, I can imagine that his dish has a great profit margin. I was hoping my partner would be more satisfied with his steak in pepper sauce (£27), but he was disappointed too. The service was great and the interior looked very nice, I just wish the food matched those standards. I would recommend visiting a place with more vegan cooking experience.

Continental is included in all stays at the hotel - we decided to eat elsewhere for most of our trip but ate here on our last morning. You have to book your slot with reception the day before. It is table service so no help yourself buffet. The service is really great across the hotel & everyone is very attentive. My partner had the porridge which he found was quite watery. I had the fruit salad & yoghurt and we shared the selection of pastries which was lovely! The coffee was good, much better than the machine coffee you get at some hotels.
