the poor standard of food my fiancée and I received at St John’s street Chester restaurant on 31st August at 6pm. We had chosen Pizza Express for a celebratory meal to mark our engagement, but sadly the experience left us both very disappointed.
The pizza I ordered was dry and tasteless, and the side of chips was also poor in quality. When I raised this with staff, the cost of the chips was removed from the bill, but this did not adequately address the overall issue. Given the occasion, we had expected far better.

I ordered the pale ale which is 330ml and the cheapest ale on the menu, and they gave me (and charged me for) a completely different 500ml golden ale despite having repeated “the pale ale”when I ordered. Sure, I enjoyed the golden ale but it’s not what I ordered. We also asked for water for the table which we had to ask for twice as they forgot about it. When trying to settle the bill it took a while for anyone to notice that we were waiting to pay. None of these were hugely problematic by themselves but in combination it made for a less than ideal...

The pizza was without doubt excellent for Pizza Express, "if you've got any allergies, just mention it when ordering"? If you're the only person seating and taking orders. Get with the program mister! Why not... "Would you like to take a seat and I'll be with you in a moment. Do you have any allergies we need to be aware of at all?".
