Popcorn — Restaurant in England

Visiting Chester as a tourist I found this bar rowdy, loud and full of obnoxious people. Funny business going on in the toilets, quite aggressive lads asking invasive questions, other boys looked barely old enough to drink and were just listlessly bounding around knocking people.

We had a round of drinks stolen off an inside window ledge because the bar won't let you take drinks outside to smoke. While I understand this isn't the fault of the staff when we went to express our disappointment they were quick to scold us saying it was our fault for leaving them unattended which was a bit gaslighting considering it was the security staff who forced us to do that because of their weird rules. I get frustrated with small minded people who say "that's just the rules" - well change the bloody rules then, life is what me make it - time was, women couldn't vote - that was just the rules - but it was stupid so we changed it. Why can't someone have a drink on a table while they have a quick cig. But the main issue I guess is we had our drinks stolen which tells you everything you need to know about the clientele. The music was fun though - trashy R&B and the sort of playlist you don't hear anymore in London.

The bar itself looks good. Very nicely dressed with lighting and blossom branches. Sadly that's all I can say that's really positive. There is plenty of space in the bar area but very little furniture. Makes staying for any length of time difficult if you can't find one of the very few seats empty. The acoustics are terrible. There weren't too many people in there while we were there but yet it was incredibly noisy from the sound of people's voices echoing around. Again, this made us want to leave because we couldn't chat. Found a lot of ice on the floor and realised that this was because one of the bar staff was a little too keen when literally throwing the ice into the glasses. Been here a few times but never my choice because haven't had many good experiences but my last visit was the final time. Bar and wait staff were all absolutely wasted on Christmas Eve (it wasn't even 7pm) so I'm sure you can guess how the service was... Not that I should have been surprised or that it's much better on a normal day, often brought the wrong drinks that I already had to wait ages for when the place has been empty and the price you pay for this slow and bad service is outrageous and not just on cocktail. The staff are there to socialise not work and the management clearly do nothing to tell them otherwise (numerous times I've had to wait because the staff were busy playing pool) honestly the place is a joke; but it has a pretty decor and flowers so people like to go there simply because it's very...
